Sebastian is sent to convince her to join a coven for her protection. He doesn't tell her right away who he is and they have a night together where they don't talk about the past or the future. When morning rolls around a Templar tries to attack them. Sebastian uses is power of moving the earth to trip him up. When the attacker leaves Nicole yells at him because she has figured out that he is a warlock. He explains that he is a major in the Magnus Corp and is there to help her find a coven to join for protection. But she wants nothing to do with it because someone else from Magna Corp placed her with an abusive warlock trainer over ten years ago and she wants nothing to do with them now that she is free and can protect herself.
In this story, Sebastian has fallen in love but has let her go free because of it. And Nicole's stubbornness leads to danger.
There was nothing mentioned in this story about the previous book except for Steven, the person who gathers and relays info to the men. So I believe these books can be complete stand alone.(At least so far)
I was wary of this one. I've found that an author relies on what works best & the books following the first book tend to be carbon copies (Caris Roane). Thankfully, this wasn't totally true with this story. The warlock, Sebastian, is indeed handsome, built & powerful. The witch, Nicolette, is older, smarter & has evaded the covens & the Templars for over 10 years. Sebastian's job is to bring Nicolette into a coven for protection from the Templars who are about start another conflict.
I liked both Sebastian & Nicolette & I liked this story. So far, the box set has turned out well. We'll see with Logan's story which is next.
I see some complaints about the shortness of it and character development. I feel like that's point in this series- a short, quick, love story with a handsome hero that saves the day, and the promise of a lovely future for both main characters. The point is to be left wanting to know how the couple fares, but we know the essentials-they're safe and in love.
In my opinion, I really do recommend reading this book. I bought the box set, and I don't regret it. The stories keep getting better and better!
