Ratchet Locking Systems have been around for decades. It is a proven locking system that is trusted, tried and true primarily in socket wrenches. We have incorporated this ratcheting gear and pawl system into the First Switchable Folding Locking Knife to lock open, closed, and lock at any angle. No other folding locking knife allows you to lock the blade in so many positions. The Rotation-Loc feature allows you to set the blade angle at the optimum cutting angle while allowing your wrists to be parallel to your cutting surface allowing more power to be applied. Seber knives are constructed with the highest quality materials. Stainless Steel bolsters and frame construction. Handles are composed of G10 scales, lightweight and extremely durable. Blade holder has a relief grind for more cutting clearance and utility blade utilizes channels to clear debris when inserted and removed. Each Seber Utility Knife comes with a Seber Utility Blade. I can't say anything about this knife tool that hasn't already been said. I purchased this utility knife based solely on all the five star reviews attached to this product.

Upon receiving this knife before I went to work today, I took a few minutes to open it and take a good look at it. This knife is everything that was written about it. I have used the utility knives that you can purchase at Lowe's, Home Depot, and Ace as well as Walmart and Dixon. Every single one of them were pieces of junk that only lasted a month and upon holding them for the first time out of the box, they all felt like weak aluminum box cutters. The worst thing about them were the guard flaps. They would loosen within a week, causing the blades to fall out while I was using the blade. That's to say nothing about the cuts I would get as a result.

Needless to say, I stopped using them and just bought a couple of pocket knives. After much trial and error with the $12 specials from Autozone and other like places, I just bought a Buck 110, outta boredome and never looked back. Afterall, a few laps on a strop everyday after work and it was razor sharp. The knife was durable, and it cut what I needed to cut like a samurai sword going through watermelons. Then recently after years of that, my boss took away the privilege of being able to use it at work and told me to use only box cutters. Obviously I was ready to strangle this person. But as this was due to some fool at work who indiscreetly abused said privilege, I had no choice but to understand and concede.

So after a couple days of searching the web for something sturdy, this knife came to my attention and now I'll never look back, I'm in love all over again. It was heavy and solid like my Buck, the blade guard is solid and bolted together, the ratcheting system is strong and ingenius . . . I would recommend no other utility knife in THE WORLD.

I hate to be the first to dissent from its untarnished 5 star rating, so I'll try to give proper reasoning on why I think it isn't perfect. First of all, I definitely agree that the quality of the knife's construction is top notch. This is without a doubt the most well built utility knife you can buy on Amazon. It's heavy, sturdy, the ratcheting mechanism feels amazing, the clip is solid and remains tightly fixed on a pocket or belt.

The reason I knocked a star off is for its practical use on my job. The time it takes for me to push the release lever forward, pull out the blade, pull the release lever back, and replace the blade within the handle is simply too long. If I were to actually try and use this at work, either my productivity would take a hit from the increased time per cut or I would run the risk of cutting myself by leaving the blade out.

If you want an extremely well constructed knife and are using it in a setting where time is not a factor, this is your knife. If you will be using it to make a lot of cuts during the day, I strongly suggest a retractable knife instead. I have not found one that matches the build quality of the Seber, but I have settled on the Milwaukee 48-22-1910 slide open utility knife for use at work.

I repair businesses and homes and I have been through many of these knifes and every one had some flaw in the design that drove me nuts. Been using and carrying this knife daily for a few months and I think I'm done upgrading. It is heavy but that is because it is made of stainless steal not cheap aluminum. I have had to order others for people I work with after they use it. I believe this knife will last me the rest of my life.

This is by far the best folding utility knife out there. I use this kind of knife all the time at work and have bought dozens over the years, all different brands and styles. These knives all had one thing in common - they all fell apart. Some took longer than others, but none have made it to a year. Except this knife. Easy to use (once you do it a few time) and definitely built to last. Solid clip, easy blade changes and I have grown to absolutely love the ratchet system used on this knife. If you use a utility knife a lot and want to buy a good one that will last forever then this is the knife you're looking for. Worth every penny.

I use this knife for skinning wire for terminations, it might be big but fits my hands well. The blade also stays in the knife while skinning wire, in 38 years i have tried a lot of knives, this is by far the best utility knife i have owned.

Spring that holds blade release popped out, so I removed it completely. Isn't real comfortable to hold. Pocket clip is large and easily catches on stuff it isn't supposed to.
You have to move the button to open the knife, then move it the other way to close it, kind of a pain, would be better to just have a spring loaded button that would allow you to move knife to where you want it and lock it there.
Locking at small angles is nice for cutting plastic pipe and stripping insulation off of large electrical cables.

Quality utility knife. The weight is substantial - just feels solid in ones hand. Grip is perfect and after a few times opening and closing feels very natural. Blade has no play at all. Will never buy a 'disposable' utility knife again at half the price...
