However, the whole premise of the story was about a kiss that never should have happened. We have Anthony, Cassidy and Kade… certainly not a love triangle but Anthony catches his brother Kade kissing Cass on Prom night. So, what is wrong with that? Well, Cassidy and Anthony are a couple and have been for a looooong time. Of course, this kiss tears them apart.
We never find out WHY that kiss happened! Cass hates Anthony for breaking her heart, but SHE was the one kissing the brother. They meet again 10 years later and, yes, that kiss has her still hating Anthony. She says he never gave her a chance to explain. I too, would like to hear that explanation but we never get too. We are left wondering. It is alluded too in a couple sentences that Kade took Cass to Prom since Anthony was sick. Evidently Kade wanted Anthony to see him kissing Cass, so I’m guessing he set up the whole thing. But, why? And why did she kiss him back? We get no indication that she fought the kiss, however, all through the book Anthony is blamed for breaking her heart. It seems like SHE was the heartbreaker and has some misplaced guilt. Why did Kade set everything in motion and why didn’t Cassidy stop it? What really happened?
Who was the one that needed redemption? Was it Cassidy or was it Anthony, or both? We are left to wonder since we never know why that kiss with Kade happened in the first place… but it sure shaped their lives from there on.
(And Kyle's sudden appearance needs a lot more detail when it comes to the 'breakup'. You'll understand who and what I'm referring to when you read the book.)
Anthony agreed to the interview just to see Cassidy again. After losing her fiancee, Cassidy wasn't ready to move on, especially not with Anthony.
I enjoyed this story so much! I'm glad that Cassidy had not let her broken heart affect her life. Even though it was a teenage romance, it's couldn't have been easy to forget about it and love again. Anthony was a good, kind man but wasn't very strong. He didn't seem to believe in himself until others did first. There was chemistry between this pair that Cassidy tried to fight. The shocking twist was completely unexpected.
What makes a book unforgettable? It’s the author’s ability to make us feel, to transport us into a world where we can feel everything, where we become the characters, we become invested and emotionally attached.
I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to romance enthusiasts.
