Why do I find that so important? Because I am totally fed up with these books that are cliff hangers, with a totally unresolved story, and the series of books are actually what I'd consider ONE book split into 2 or 3 segments. It really bugs me to get to the so-called end of a book and discover I *HAVE* to buy another book if I want to know what happens.
Thankfully, that is NOT the case here. But because the book is so good, and the characters and storyline so engaging, it makes you WANT to buy more books because they're such a good read, not because you were coerced into it to have to see how the story ends.
So to sum it up, a fun read with characters you want to hear more about, outstanding author and I really REALLY like her ethics. A series with the same characters is a great idea, and how she handles it leaves a much better vibe with me. Thank you for your style!
This story however, was a completed story, which IMO- can be read as a stand alone. Loved the characters, the writing, the plot line, but most of all the wonderful HEA ending.
Abby has just been conned out of her trust fund by her husband, and had no other choice but to return home to a cold hearted mother who she wasn't even sure would take her in. And if that's not bad enough, before she and her mother can make amends, her mother is killed in a car accident, before she can change her will back to what it was before she married. At the reading of the will, Abby finds out that her mother left her the mansion, but no money to care for it. She will recieve a trust, but not until she reaches 40, instead of thirty like it had been before. So now her, the maid, and her friend Melanie have to come up with a plan to make enough money to keep their heads above water, so to speak.
I loved Abby from the start. And even though her mother treated her badly, and her husband ran off with everything she owned, she didn't become a cold, bitter woman. She treated the long-time maid, Betsy, with more love and respect than Betsy had ever received from her mother. Abby didn't care if you were only a garbage man, a lawyer, a handy man....or whatever profession you may have...she treated them all very respectfully. Don't know if it'lll ever happen, but I would love to see Betsy, and Melanie find their own HEA's, too.
Great book! I can't wait to read more works by this author in the future.
