This book follows the life of Mark Jennings as he shares his family life, love life, work life and all of it in between. Mark is a gay man who is in a committed relationship, well until his partner cheats on him, it's at this point he first meets Antonio. Antonio, is his massage therapist and becomes a very close friend. We follow Mark as he forgives his Partner, Brian for cheating on him - takes him back and they have a great relationship until illness strikes.
Throughout it all Antonio is by Marks side, as a friend and confidant.. Well occasionally over the years they have had strange interactions, but overall they are friends. No benefits - just friends.
This book will bring forth a wealth of emotions from sadness to laughing, anger to tears..you will experience it all.
This is a great, in-depth story - the audiobook is also high quality with great narration and voice clarity.
This book will make you think, it will make you realize that sometimes you have to get over yourself, get past your own pride and give those second chances -- sometimes those second chances are life changing and not giving them would be a huge mistake.
"To my Mark, who showed me love comes from f---ing unexpected places, and who makes me want to be a better man every day.” - Antonio
"If anything happened to you, I needed you to know I’m him. I’m that guy.” I wasn’t sure what he meant. “What guy, babe?” He pulled back and looked at me with such tenderness in his eyes. “The guy who would do anything to deserve a man like you.” - Antonio

I just finished reading this book and had to write a review because other readers need to know how AMAZING this story is. One of the best I've read in a while...
First off, have the tissues in hand because if you're anything like me you'll be needing them from the get go. Second Chances gives us glimpses of Mark's life journey filled with ups amd downs over several years. This is a roller coaster of a ride and even though I cried (both sad and happy tears) nearly nonstop throughout the whole thing I really enjoyed it. I haven't cried so much over a book since Something Like Summer by Jay Bell.
Second Chances is a powerful story and if it doesn't tug at your heart strings for one reason or another then I don't know what would. There's loss, grief, worry, friendship, father/son relationships, hero worship, foster care, sickness, pain, the gay "issue/coming out", both family support and the lack thereof, but the basis for everything is LOVE no matter what form it takes.
The real issues discussed and experienced by these characters and the serious tone of the story put Second Chances and T.A. Webb into the Amy Lane, TJ Klune, Diane Adams, Cardeno C and others category. And that's saying a lot because those are some of my favorite m/m authors. Based on the About the Author blurb and the similarities between it and Mark's job lead me to believe the story may be based off true events to some degree. Mark's story really touched my heart and I firmly believe everyone deserves a second chance. I'm so glad the characters in this book were given theirs. And the Epilogue made me sigh inside like the fan girl I am and smile (though my tears)...
So... good story, good writing, good price... Highly Recommend!
