I bought several of these for my elderly mother who suffered a massive stroke several months ago and lost the ability to read, write and speak. I recorded "Thank you", "I would like to get ready for bed", "Yes", "I need bathroom assistance", etc., to help her communicate with her aided/nurses. I taped small pictures onto each button on the side so she can identify them because she cannot read. (bathroom recording/picture of toilet; get ready for bed/picture of a bed) She doesn't use them often as often as I would like her to, but I am trying to reinforce the idea every time I am there to try get her to use them more often to help others in trying to understand what she wants/needs. For me, the recording is loud enough and clear enough, easy to understand. The "speaker" holes are on the bottom, so if you put it on a flat surface (Table or dresser) it really cuts down on the loudness - should be put on something "soft" or elevated so you can hear it better. I put on top of a piece of "foam shelf liner" and you can hear them perfectly fine.

Smaller than I expected but that's a good thing for me because I thought it was going to be quite large.
It records very nicely and the quality is pretty good as well. I got bout 20 seconds of record time. Very easy to operate it.
You rotate it to the "R" to record and a red light shows up meaning is recording. You do have to hold the button though.
You can rotate to "O" to turn it off
And then "p" to play. A red flashing light shows that it is playing and you do not need to hold the button down, just press once.

I bought this to go inside a crochet Freddie Mercury doll a friend made for me. Now he sings "ey-oh" whenever you press his tummy. This little voice box gave the perfect finishing touch to a precious treasure. Now when I get her to crochet the rest of the band each will definitely have the same voice box with fun sounds corresponding to each member.

The voice box isn't the most amazing quality it has stereotypical faults of lesser quality voice boxes. Background static and poping noises in the beginning and end of playback cycle are issues but the price is good and it works well.

Another issue is a red light that glows on playback. My friend strategically placed it where the doll's heart would be. It's cute that way and doesn't bother me but it is worth noting incase it does bother you.

Over all it works well and is a good price. I highly recommend this voice box. It was easy to program and easy to use. I will be purchasing more in the future.

You only get one attempt to record, no Re-Record available

I read several of the product's reviews where people said you can Re-Record the initial recording, not so in the unit I received. I followed the instructions and made a recording and it worked, but I could never re-record over my test recording, even after carefully removing the cover to remove the 3 LR44 batteries under the cover (for 60 seconds) to attempt a reset. If the unit cost $2 or $3, I'd buy another, but for $8.99, it ought to be able to reset & re-record So if you buy, make the very first recording a good one or your screwed to make a subsequent recording. Instructions and product description do not indicate that only a single recording is possible.

I purchased this recordable sound module to put inside a plush toy to give to a friend as a gag gift (put it in a gremlin). The device itself is very small, and super easy to add in the plush. Recording on it was also very easy, just turn the top of the module and press the small black button to record your message. The sound quality was actually better than I had expected, especially because of the price. There is a little bit of white noise in the background of the recording I did, but the message is still loud and clear over it. As for the volume of the playback, I think it was just the right level; anything louder would probably be weird to put into a plush that a sleeping child may accidentally press.

Random advice, but if you're planning on shipping a plush or any other project you put this device in, I would recommended adding a good amount of air pillows, packing peanuts, etc. around the object because when I originally packaged mine the device kept going off with little pressure added to the package.

Its been a little over a year since I gave my friend her gift with this inside and the battery still works just fine! I would recommend this to anyone.

I bought 2 of these. One for a stuffed animal my kids. The second for a mother's day gift. I was worried about the purchase because it didn't say how long it records for. Which turned out to be like 25-30 seconds. The thing I like about it is you turn the top and there is a small window. 3 of them to be exact. One with an O another with a P And the other with an R. standing for off, play and record. Depending on what you would like to do, select it on the dial and hold it down. It was pretty simple. I didn't even read instructions. I wish the recording quality were better but it's better than a lot that I have seen and the fact that it was prime, was worth how fast it got here.
