This has turned into one of my favorite series by Helena. A Secret for A Secret is a great addition to the All In Series, it’s full of humor and is such a heartwarming story. But don’t let that fool you, it is STEAMY, and King will have you swooning over him in a heartbeat. Helena absolutely nailed this story, and I loved that Queenie brought out a different side of King, but that he also brought out a different side of her. They were the perfect coupling and the true definition of opposites attract. I will also say, I LOVED that we got to catch up with Rook and Lainey, and Stevie and Bishop, as well as Violet and Alex. I think that’s what I love the most about all of Helena’s books and this one too, we get to catch up with past characters, and they truly play an integral role in current books. I’m ready for more Helena in 2020!
Kingston is the last of the good guys - good looking, successful, treats people right, follows the rules - but when he gets some pretty shocking news he is out to go on a bender. Enter Queenie - she is sweet and a bit wild and trying to find her place in the world...just what a guy like King needs.
After they part King resigns himself to never seeing her again - but fate has other plans....and of course she turns out to be the one girl who is strictly off limits.
Their story becomes a slow burn of sweet moments and hot tension - until the heat between them is too much to deny.
Along the way there are some wonderful side characters - some who I hope get there own stories and some who you will love to hate.
Helena Hunting books are always something I look forward to and this one did not disappoint
Ryan "King" Kingston plays for the NHL's Seattle team and to put it mildly, he's got a crazy family. He's just learned some life altering news, so he does what he rarely does and heads to a bar to have some drinks. What he doesn't anticipate is taking a woman home with him and even beyond that, he doesn't ever expect to see her again. But you know how that goes...
Queenie Masterson is trying to figure out what she wants to do with her life. She's just recently lost her job and decided to move closer to her father, Jake, who is the GM of the Seattle NHL team. She ends up becoming his assistant and while she's good at her job, it seems that chaos tends to follow her.
When King and Queenie realize that they were each other's one-night stand from weeks before things become complicated. They have chemistry like no other, but because they are both affiliated with the team, and Queenie promised her dad that she wouldn't date players, things hit a dead end before they can reconnect. Will that stop them though?
King is amazing. He's quirky, but I loved that about him. He is so down to earth, caring, considerate and he's definitely a rule follower. The way he treats Queenie and stands by her, defends her and loves her is awesome. Queenie is short on self esteem and rightfully so based on things that have gone on in her life. I enjoyed seeing her grow as the book went on when she was surrounded by the right people.
Another aspect that I loved is that we got to see people from previous books, including Alex and Violet, which is always wonderful. This was highly entertaining and I look forward to what Helena Hunting has to offer us next!
For as straight laced and proper as Kingston was presented in the 2nd book in this series, I really thought Queenie would shake up his life and his feelings a lot more. I didn’t feel like there was enough tension/challenge to their love story and perhaps that may not have been the intention at all, but I think it would have been a more interesting story to see both the H/h spar with each other a bit considering they have such different personalities.
Queenie probably isn’t as chaotic as she is made to seem either. yes there are mistakes from her past but they’re not so terrible that they can’t be overcome.
This was still a sweet story, but not something I couldn’t put down.

Every book I feel like I cant like the character any more than the previous book and yet I do!!! She just manages to write the perfect person every time.
Rook and Bishop made me crazy happy but Kingston and his particular ways had me begging for him to get his HEA as soon as I met him!
Hes straight laced (that driving lol).. hes sensible (milk drinking at the bar) and hes determined to be a great example to everyone... but along with that hes loving strong and protective of those that are in his corner.
Queenie is a little lost bumbling through life after being told she wont be anything special but all that changes when she walks into a bar one night.
Seriously didnt want to put this story down and absolutely love the fact we get Alex and Voilet updates too!
Would read pretty much anything Helena writes by this stage as I always love what she gives us!
This is an all-round good story. It has a little of everything I look for in a romance novel. It stirs your emotions and has you rooting for the couple from the start. There’s some angst, a dash of ‘what did I just read’, enough Awe! to make you swoon, a soupcon of hilarity and plenty to make you fan yourself. There is ex drama, family drama, & a forbidden relationship.
Ryan Kingston ‘King’ is the archetypal good boy. Respectful, considerate, teetotal, polite. He’s never met a rule that shouldn’t be followed.
Queenie, on the other hand, is impulsive, sassy, chaotic, confused, worrier. She the hot mess. Lacks self-confidence
Both are passionate. Though only one of them is following their passion.
After a secret is exposed King uncharacteristically decides to head to a bar to drown his problems, though not very successfully until Queenie lends a hand. Leading to a one-night stand which is totally out of character for King.
She’s gone in the morning, for a disappointed King life goes on unchanged, until the first practice of the season. King discovers that not only is Queenie his GMs new assistant, she’s also his only daughter. Queenie would quite like to hide from the situation; King, true to his nature takes the first opportunity to confront the situation head on.
They are the perfect foil to each other. King brings stability to Queenie, Queenie mayhem/chaos to King.
“She’s my raging rapids, and I’m her calm lake at dawn. We’re good. Perfect”
Secrets of any size can cause problems, hence why we hide them. There are secrets aplenty, some inconsequential, others that are life changing in their enormity
A shy little flower in the story will melt your heart.
ARC from the author in return for an honest review. I have also purchased this book.
I loved that the female was complicated as hell as that was really realistic. Often, the women is supposed to be sweet and innocent and if they’re not that’s a bad thing. I loved how you emphasised that it’s really not a bad thing to enjoy or want sex. I think this would be a good book for teens or late teens to read because:
I loved the realism of the sex! For once it wasn’t porn to skim read. I loved how there was a real dialogue and conversation of consent, talking about what they do and don’t like during sex and how that can or not be a turn on. I think this could be a really good book for teens or late teens to read because they can maybe get an idea of what is supposed to be normal, without it being cringe. I’m not trying to say this is good sex education, I’m saying that it could be and it was probably the best written modern sex scenes I have ever read.
I loved this story, and I loved these characters. I already waiting for the next book in this series and if my shipping heart is correct, I think I have a pretty good idea of who it might be about
Ryan Kingston, what a man! He's sexy, romantic, passionate and stole my heart from the outset. I've been waiting for quite a while to read his story. He is a man who has a lot weighing on his mind after a secret has been revealed. Queenie Masterson's life is utter chaos. She returns home to sort out her life, but she's also bringing a secret and baggage that she never knew existed.
While Queenie is chaotic, Ryan is the exact opposite. A one night stand turns into so more much more when they discover they are employed by the same organisation. Queenie is the daughter and new assistant to Ryan's boss, a situation that has them agreeing to keep their relationship platonic ... yeah right!!!! Queenie draws out feelings Ryan has never felt before, and he allows her to dream of a different life.
Ryan and Queenie's story was an emotional one that really pulled at my heartstrings. There were also many moments that made me laugh out loud ... especially where Bishop was involved, that man has no filter!! My heart bled for Queenie when her past caught up to her, can this girl not catch a break? Ryan too, was dealing with a secret that could have destroyed hi, instead he spends a large amount of time thinking about it and working out the best way to deal with it.
I understand Ms Hunting was only going to have three books in this series, I can only hope that she changes her mind and writes more. A SECRET FOR A SECRET outstanding, powerful and thoroughly enjoyable.
Read and Reviewed for Reading Is Our Satisfaction
So suffice it to say I was already half in love with Ryan & Queenie's book even before I started. And let me be all cliché and just admit that it was everything and more that I could have asked for. I adored these two together. Ying & Yang, opposites - whatever you want to call them it just worked. Ryan was especially adorable, and he was such a breath of fresh air that had me cheering like crazy every time he stepped out of his nice guy mode and Hulked up. I loved it!!
Now I have no idea who or even if there will be another book (there had better be - shaking fist) but whatever Helena writes I'll be reading it.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book
I will never, ever look at a strawberry milkshake without laughing from now on either.
I was dreading having to say goodbye to this series. I fell in love with this spin off universe of the Pucked series with A Lie for A Lie. Well always trust Helena Hunting, she's already said we aren't done with the Pucked Universe, but I'm ok now leaving Rook, Shippy and King, I know they will be ok. They will be loved and they will love like they deserve.
You will laugh, like only Helena can make you laugh. If you are a fan of her universe, there are plenty of nudges and winks to past characters. Shippy and Stevie, Rook's family, they all come out to play. This was the perfect ending to the All In Series. Now bring on the story of Lavender!
Queenie was cute.
Enough drama but lots of love. But what happened with Jake and Hanah??
