This is a fast paced, well written story and the Rose Garden was described so beautifully I felt as if I was there. Also, the mansion had one hundred rooms all locked up was amazing, my first thought was why were all the doors locked?? The children pulled you right into the story and all the surroundings, the animals, the old gardener upon the ladder looking over the wall at the children, The doctor that came in at just the right time and the nurse, Also the maid that was always talking are some of the highlights that kept me reading.
Watching the movie doesn't draw you into the Rose Garden, and seeing the children plant flower, laughing and playing around like the book does. When your emotions are touched you remember things for a long time. I recommend this classic book to all age groups, read and enjoy.
1. The book started with Mary, a spoiled child who expected to get everything that she wanted. I wish it had ended with her as the changed girl that she was! I didn't mind the scene but I wish the author's parting words were in Mary's voice! By the end of the book I adored her and I wanted it to start and finish with her.
2. I know I really shouldn't care but I've been reading for so long that it's now a pet peeve of mine (I'm not bragging, I'm starting a fact. Everyone has probably been reading for a long time and they don't even know this is a pet peeve!) Methinks there may have a typo/grammar mistake one (or two) too many. Like I said, I should l shouldn't care but it's just a pet peeve.
Thanks for reading, if you made it to the end of this. Just so you know, the book is still amazing and these are just two things that I noticed. Plus, the fact that I read this on my kindle might be why there were so many typos. Bye! Thx and remember, Pigs Read Too.
