About the Author
During her lifetime, Frances Hodgson Burnett was most famous for her children’s story Little Lord Fauntleroy, but The Secret Garden has since become known as her masterpiece. Born in 1849 in Cheetham, England, she moved to the United States as a teenager. Burnett published her first short stories at the age of nineteen, and she spent her lifetime writing numerous plays, stories for magazines, and novels. She died in New York in 1924.
