John Hodges and Ted Gif have written several books on diseases such as Cancer, Diabetes, and Arthritis by promoting clean eating habits that are very beneficial to our health. The term they have used is SIRT food that is basically a Mediterranean diet rich in sirtuin activators. Sirt Foods is a way of eating without compromising our health, physical fitness or love of food!! The authors did a fabulous job of explaining the health in the biology of eating and living well!!
Some Sirt foods include buckwheat, capers, celery, cocoa, dark chocolate (70% cocoa), coffee, extra virgin olive oil, kale, red wine, turmeric, walnuts, and olives. There are many more but you are going to have to purchase the book!! ;) Many of these foods I already incorporate in my diet with huge success! I was so inspired after listening to the audiobook that I stopped at the grocery store and purchased more Sirt foods! Then I downloaded the Sirt Food Diet Recipe Cookbook and created a few dishes! I absolutely love them!!
Obesity has definitely become an epidemic in our nation even among our children. It is time to take control of our diets incorporating complex carbohydrates, lots of veggies, fruits and unsaturated fats found in our plant foods. While genetics does play a role in our size and, no one size food plan fits all, everyone could definitely lead a healthier life, add a lot more nutrients and boost their immune system!
R. Paul Matty’s voice is filled with texture and emotion on the health in the biology of eating well and living well. He is energetic, sincere and emotionally connected to his work. Not only does he understand the material, but he also believes in it and that is evident in his narration! Outstanding job! He truly makes it easy to stay engaged and learn about our foods as medicine. He was very inspiring and I could easily visualize the processes taking place in the human body.
R. Paul Matty energizes the message on how to be healthy without dieting or starving yourself. He is an enthusiastic and conversational-sounding narrator who obviously has a biology background and can easily enunciate, depict and set the tone for an incredible book! His pace was wonderful along with his explanations of some tough concepts!! With R. Paul Matty’s narration and inflection, it was easy to become engaged as he explained some of the most complex concepts of cellular biology and immunology. With narration, it is so important that the narrator not only understands the material but believes in it and is emotionally connected to it. It truly does make all the difference besides the tone, pitch and pace! R. Paul Matty has a gift of inspiring people even when we don't feel inspired!
Thanks to this book, many people will be able to understand the biological metabolic reactions in the human body and learn healthy eating habits to go from a striving to a thriving immune system to prevent diseases such as cancer, alzheimer's disease and cardiovascular disease! I will definitely recommend this book to my nursing students, colleagues and friends! Thank you for an incredible resource!!
It is well researched and presented. Although I had not heard of Sirt food until I read this book, I have had an interest in clean eating . Reading this was the boost I needed to continue on that route and learn more about it.
The information in this book is totally helpful! There were medical terminologies that is inevitable to use. It took me awhile to read some of the pages, simply because I have to carefully read through the new terminologies, but it widens my understanding about the food we eat and how it functions once inside our body.
The content is well supported with facts from different researches conducted by different groups, which is great to know. What I appreciate best about this book is the fact that we actually do not need to radically change our diet neither do we need to enrol in a special program/ food regimen. The whole thought of the book is how we should go back to the original diet, simply by incorporating more vegetables and fruits in our daily meals. One more thing, it talks about the original diet to cure or prevent diseases.
I learned so much from this book, it is loaded with facts. A mine of substance. The manner of the author's writing is definitely easy to understand. I couldn't agree more about the fact that today's generation has profound rate of obesity because healthy foods are not as accessible or best to say, not as affordable as before. We are so tied to conventional, hybrid diets to fill the mass hunger.Thanks to this book, I have better chances of preventing diseases such as cancer, alzheimer's disease and other debilitating conditions resulting from the conventional diet.As I quote from the author, our food must be our own medicine.
