Elizabeth Hunter has completely outdone herself on this novel, and I think this may be her best book to date.

Hunter's writing is richly sensual, and she proves yet again that she is a master of weaving together past and present, mythology and reality into a tale so enthralling you never quite want it to end.

This book felt heavy and I found myself getting bogged down in the relationships between the various groups. I've read many richly detailed books in the past but the increased number of characters, increasingly complex intrigue and globe-trotting to one city after another in The Secret made for laborious reading from time to time. That said, once the big showdown was complete, the ending felt a bit rushed and anticlimactic. I could almost feel the author's desire to be finished with this story.
Bottom line: there is no doubt that Ms. Hunter is a gifted writer with a deeply complex imagination. That said, the couple I fell in love with seemed to get lost in the intricacies of the plotting. I won't say I was disappointed by the end of their story, but I also won't say that I was thrilled by it.
In this third book, there is a lot of action, adventure and discovery about others of their kind and the Grigoris. Ava discovers more about herself, as does Malachi and more surprising Jaron. We find out something ghastly about her grandmother and why she is like she is. Ava even meets Vasu, who I think is a very fun character/Angel. I would like to know what happens to him, because I want that one question answered about Galal.
Overall, you will not be disappointed with this book. All Ava and Malachi plot lines are resolved, but I can see other stories coming from this, just like the Elemental world. She writes such rich and thoughtful words, that are so descriptive and immersing you forget reality exists. I look forward to more books.
I loved the story, the multi-layered characters, and world building, and the globe trotting background. After experiencing a dry reading spell for months, I finally stumbled upon this book and immediately downloaded books 2 and 3 before I even finished with chapter 3 of book 1.
The story telling was captivating, and although Ava and Malakhi are soul mate in the story, I appreciated the fact that Ms. Hunter didn't employ the tedious insta-lust ploy for their love story. Instead, these two fell in love with each other at a natural pace, and went through all kinds of trials and tribulations before they got their HEA. It made their love story that much richer!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and Elizabeth gets better and better with each book she writes, weaving her words and imprinting images, smells and tastes into your mind whilst your heart falls in love with the characters and beauty of the story.
In this book we continue to follow Ava and Malachi as they build their relationship, both have unanswered questions as they both don’t know who they fully are. Unlocking Malachi’s memories and Ava trying to work out her heritage and what the darkness is inside her that she fears and why the Archangels are involved in her life.
Whilst the pair learn more about themselves and each other they also have the task of convincing the Irin Council that the Gregori problem is much bigger than an isolated attack here or there.
Whilst they are on these missions, more truths come to light and thousands of years of Irin understanding is about to be changed.
All the mysteries and unanswered questions from the first two books all come to light in this story which beautifully concludes Ava and Malachi’s story, though I am pleased that this won’t be the last we see of the Irin books and I look forward to reading more in the future.
I highly recommend this series and also Elizabeth’s Elemental Mysteries books. I am also looking forward to reading Elizabeth’s other series from the Elemental world and Cambio Springs.
Again the proof readers let Elizabeth down and how the editor didn't pick the BIG fo-pah at the end I don't know.. (is Casper old or not...???)
I'll 're read the first two books again and see if that helps with character retention..
