About the author

Welcome to my page! I hope you have had a chance to read and enjoy my first book: Secret Keeper- The Joys and Struggles of being a Therapist. I have been in the mental health field since 2012 and wanted to provide a peak behind the curtain of therapy while respecting the privacy of my clients. I hope to continue to write and have ideas for books focusing on the the cost and rewards of being in helping professions as well as things I wish I had known when entering the world of therapy.
A little bit about me:
I am originally from a small town in North-Central Ohio. Professionally, I hold a master's degree of Education in Mental Health Counseling and Rehabilitation Counseling from Ohio University. I am a licensed professional clinical counselor as well as a certified clinical trauma professional and a certified rehabilitation counselor. My professional experiences include working with children, young adults, and adults in various settings such as K-12 schools, mental health agencies, colleges, and government agencies.
Personally, I am a nature lover. My husband and I enjoy traveling to state parks across the country and kayaking is a favorite past time. We have two cats and love spending time with family.

This is more than a collection of her experiences, she takes you on a journey of HER development as a therapist, a professional, a listener, and a meaning-maker. She shares specific examples of her experience with a few of her clients and the spectrum of their challenges. What she does NOT say directly is that she has grown in her ability to provide therapy AND to make connections with complete strangers. It is apparent that her clients weighed on her mind and heart long after the sessions were over.
As a therapist, I was impressed and moved by Marcia's empathy and efforts for the good of others. Thank you, Marcia for your transparency, inspiration, and insight.
