I read THE SECRET KEEPERS after reading THE COVEN and THE HUNTED. Too technologically challenged to download it before I dove into the book I bought on a Sunday walk through Beaufort!
I loved it and the two books that followed. I am a huge Chrissy Lessey fan; her writing is descriptive, historically correct, believable, even for a person who isn't into fantasy or Science Fiction.
There is the perfect mix of local history, family, marriage, divorce, love, lust, greed, Autism, national history, fantasy,(or is it?), suspense, mystery, romance, and sex! OMG! I need to stop or I'm going to be back where I was when I shut the cover of THE HUNTED, needing to harass the author! Enough, I hear the final book is coming soon. Soon, soon....
Congratulations Chrissy Lessey, I'm hooked and have found my new favorite series!

This is an interesting take on a story about witches in that it is based around witches who have always aimed to keep to themselves and simply live their lives and abide by set rules when it comes to magic and spells. The story worked well and Blackbeard was an interesting addition to this that at first worried me as it could become gimmicky but thankfully this was not the case. This is a well told story that has a good flow to it and even with this being a short prequel it is something that allows you to get a number of events and a feel for the style of writing which I enjoyed.
This is a good introduction to Chrissy Lessey and her work. It is my first experience of her work and I will move on to read The Coven soon based on this as it was well written, flowed well and was an enjoyable read.
