And what is Steven Step hucking? Cash value life insurance? Every consumer advocate (Bob Brinker, Clark Howard, Whitecoat Investor, Dave Ramsey, Suze Orman) says to AVOID cash value life insurance. Dave Ramsey calls it "garbage" and a "rip-off". The experts say that with indexed universal life insurance you can expect returns of between 2% and 5% but only if the policy is held for an entire lifetime. Those are pathetic returns. After several decades you will probably end up with a return of only about 3-4% with whole life insurance.
But cash value life insurance is always sold to unsophisticated investors who are ignorant of diversification into bonds. Don't expect insurance salesmen to educated you about historical returns when you diversify. Stick with a low risk portfolio of about 30% total stock market index and 70% total bond market index and you will EASILY be much richer and with very low risk.
