As a lover of both books and movies, I admired the way the author is brave and kind enough to reveal real truths and insights into the life of a working actor. The internal conflict Charlotte experiences as she reflects on her life in Hollywood and the effort she's put in to build her career there, versus the idea of what and where she would truly find happiness, fascinates and brings forth questions we can all ask ourselves...cuz face it...life's a mystery.
Do yourself a favor and read all three books in a row, as they flow one into the other, plus you'll be glad you did....Who Dat!
I describe it best as a fictional mystery story, full of mysterious intrigue, but it will also captivate you with the real-life personal and historical settings that will have your mind contemplating your own life journeys. Once you begin reading it, I am sure you'll see this happening to you as well.
It takes place in the city of New Orleans in 2009, which coincided with the New Orleans Saints winning their Super Bowl, and 4 years after hurricane Katrina devastated the city. Besides its entertaining mystery plot, it is a also a book I would literally use as cultural and geographic guide should you visit this magnificent city. Ms. Cayouette does such a great job detailing the culture of the city, by the time I was half way through her book, I was deciding when I could visit there for a longer period of time other than just two nights on Bourbon Street. I'm sold!!!
The book's ending is as good as any I have ever read. It will keep you thinking not only of the the solved mystery plot, but will certainly having you thinking about things you may become very thankful for.
Once again, it's a unique reading experience that I highly recommend to people of all ages. Easily 5 STARS!! And the next in the series awaits me.
I recommend this book to anyone who misses New Orleans and loves a historical mystery!
