The book provided a number of case histories and practical examples which detailed the principles being explained
There is no reason why you cannot try these practical examples yourself
I can susbstantiate some of the ideas being presented in the book being able to perform them myself

Supersubconscious.
It is interesting to find out why the position of super is different.

I enjoyed reading this historical account of Huna. I learned how the New Thought Movement was influenced by Huna. I know there is a lot of controversy about Huna not being Hawaiian. That's not important to me. What's important is the esoteric wisdom and teaching. I believe the book gives an excellent history of parapsychology, spirituality, and the ancient earth teachings. If you want to know and learn about Huna, read this book.

I was alerted to the existence of this book by a new website [...] which references this book in its descriptoon of kahuna.

The website covers spirituality and spiritual experiences and indicates that Freedom Long's book contains a number of descriptions of such experiences including fire walking, raising the dead, the death prayer and so on. And indeed that is exactly what the book [and incidentally freedom long's other books on Kahuna] do.

The website also contains a good summary of the book and what it contains, so I was pleased to find that the book lived up to expectations. Note that Huna and Kahuna are different, this is a book about what was left of Kahuna by the time Freedom Long arrived and documented it.

This book; I LOVE! Max's best work, in my opinion. He begins by telling the reader that; " I arrived in Hawaii in 1917 and took
a job teaching because the position would place me near the volcano, Kilauea..." and proceeds to methodically relay his adventures on the islands to the reader with the skill of both a good story teller and a scientist. Fire walking, laying on of hands, the simplistic rituals of the Kahunas, all give the reader an insider's look at this fascinating and wonderful system of healing and devining. Couldn't put it down and look forward to re-reading! :)
