How customer reviews and ratings work
Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.

This is a commentary on the PRATYABHIJNA HRIDAYAM, an 11th century Sanskrit text by Ksemaraja. There are 20 pithy aphorisms, presented in Sanskrit, with Roman transliteration, English translation. Dr. Taimni, who is usually quite concise in his explanations, lost a bit of his precision in the preface. There is a need for editing---punctuation is lacking, there are typos, and the syntax is weird. Don't be thrown off by the initial muddle though, because Taimni's typically astute observations resume in commentaries themselves.
"Pratyabhijna" means recognition. The aim of this text was to assist the lay person in recognizing his innermost nature. This inner nature is free and whole, but because we're involved in manifestation and its accompanying illusions and entanglements, our freedom has become restricted. As cognizance of this situation evolves, fuller awareness of the vast reality in which we are embedded can be regained.
The aphorisms illustrate how consciousness becomes constricted and how it can be expanded again, with the ultimate goal of removing limitations on knowledge and ability. There is encouragement of a general nature in these aphorisms; there are no particular exercises or techniques. Recognizing the problem of duality is important, but more essential is obtaining direct perception, in one's own consciousness, of the truths that the aphorisms propose. This will take meditation and practical applications of theory. Taimni emphasized undergoing intensive training with a knowledgeable teacher. This book is intended as support for that training, rather than an isolated instruction, or a fast track to "liberation".
This translation itself is sound, and the aphorisms contain succinct wisdom. It's a valuable text, but you might struggle with it if you don't have a background in Kashmir Shaivism. It avoids technicalities and is for "non-specialist readers", but this is probably not the place to begin if you are just starting your investigation into Hindu Philosophy. Dr. Taimni suggested it should be read in conjunction with books on the Shiva Sutras and/or the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali. I think that would help greatly.
