I enjoy Jim Korkis' books about Disney. I consider him to be one of the top Disney Historians. I always know that his books will be well researched and full of info I never knew or had forgotten. I especially enjoy his information about Disneyland and the other Disney theme parks. Jim organizes this book into attractions in MAIN STREET, U.S.A., ADVENTURELAND, FRONTIERLAND, NEW ORLEANS SQUARE, CRITTER COUNTRY, FANTASYLAND, MICKEY'S TOONTOWN, and TOMORROWLAND - a total of over 80 attractions. I especially like that Jim covers the time periods that the attractions existed. I thought I knew a bit about the various extinct attractions, but was surprised to see how many I had forgotten. I also thought some of the attractions lasted much longer or much shorter than they did. IF YOU ARE A DISNEYLAND FAN AND ARE INTERESTED IN THE EXTINCT ATTRACTIONS ... THIS BOOK IS FOR YOU!! Fascinating book, Jim, thanks for sharing this with your readers!

Are you a fan of the original Disneyland? I don't mean just the Anaheim version but the 1955 version! I grew up only 5 miles from Disneyland. My family went there when it first opened in 1955. When we drove along the Santa Ana Freeway we were thrilled to see the tall TWA rocketship (in Tomorrowland) towering above the surrounding orange groves. This book has one-page descriptions & histories of ALL the original (& following) attractions at Disneyland which are now "extinct." (Thus, the title of this book.) It is a HUGE trip down memory lane for anyone who likes Disneyland history or (like me!) still fondly remember those bygone rides, restaurants & other attractions!

I really enjoyed this book. The only thing better would be if it had pictures, but it was interesting to read about the rides, shops, etc that used to be a part of Disneyland.

It was great to read about Disneyland attractions I never even got to experience. This book would have been better if there had been maps to help the reader orient better where these attractions were and what is there now. I was surprised Korkis didn't include a chapter about the Rocket Rods!! The book kind of just ended abruptly, too.

I purchased this book since it sounded interesting -- it mostly certainly is!! As someone who remembers some of the gone attractions from Disneyland it was good to read about the old attractions and stores that i enjoyed when i used to go to Disneyland when i was younger. I loved Swiss Family Tree House and Carousel of Progress attractions. Very well written -- enjoyable to read -- brings up memories of better days.

Very entertaining! Almost impossible to out down. My only wish is that it had pictures (Kindle version). I found myself constantly stopping to Google images of multiple parts of the book!

We would stay at the Stardust Motel right across the street from the main entrance of Disney, my brother and I would hit Disneyland for a week while my dad would be making sales call throughout Southern Calf.
Today i am a huge Disney fan but the original park brings back some wonderful memories , this book brought back a flood of memories from my childhood
If you are a Disney fan or just want to know more about the original park, this is a must read.
Enjoy

Back in the 1970's Disneyland was my summer baby sitter, we lived in Texas but my dad would load up my brother and I and drive to the west coast sometimes twice a summer.
