The characters were easy to fall in love with and follow, along with the story. the author made the mental visions so easy and vivid of the surroundings and the characters actions felt so real.
i would highly recommend this author and this series. after finishing books 1-3, i panicked. i can't wait until book four is published..oh please hurry

"The Secret of Strange Waters" by Kelly Hall is the second book in the Light Keeper book series. While I enjoy a good stand-alone book, my heart prefers an engrossing series where I can spend time with the characters watching them evolve. I'm enjoying this YA series which offers a combination of paranormal and romance.
While Book 1, "The Legend of the Light Keeper" introduced readers to Lily, Talon, Owen, Hunter and the mysterious light of Bragg Road, the second installment of the series delves deeper into the relationships of these four characters as well as the supernatural abilities Lily has begun to develop as the Light Keeper.
Author Kelly Hall increases the tension for our main characters by introducing new villains, a new love interest for one of our heroes and a plot twist that readers may be surprising. As a reader, I felt that "The Secret of Strange Waters" focused more on character development, especially the ups and downs of the relationship shared between Owen, Lily and Talon. While Hall gives us some great character growth, especially for Lily, she also delivers plenty of action-packed, suspenseful scenes to create a good balance.
I enjoyed the character development but would love to know more about the supernatural side of Lily, Owen's connection to her and what is really in the "strange" water. Looks like we need to wait for "The Truth about Broken Trees" for those answers. I'm also hoping for more Granny in the next book of the series. Granny remains one of my favorite Light Keeper characters — she's wise, funny and I can't imagine these books without her.
Grab yourself a copy of the first book, "The Legend of the Light Keeper" and then definitely read "The Secret of Strange Waters. I recommend Kelly Hall's "The Secret of Strange Waters" to anyone who enjoys YA paranormal and/or YA paranormal romance.
Just like its predecessor, it is a story that grips you from page one and holds you until you have reached the final page, (well it did for me the second time, I almost finished it first time around, only to be like “wait a second, have I missed something? Something that's like important and could even be a spoiler for what is in book 3?” But no, there were more character developments, more twists, and more reveals, it’s everything you could want in a good book and more.
(I received the work from the author, as well as the ARC of Book 1)
