I'm not exactly sure what code red is but I bet H.S.Clark does and I'd wager a bet that he'd know what to do if he heard that. This book was like Code Red was called in the E.R. and everyone ran to action- it was fast, furious, highly suspenseful and full of intense medical goobledegoop that was extremely interesting, even for this right-brained reader. I loved the experience of this book and looked forward to getting to it every night, reading until my Kindle fell on my face and I had to admit it was time to stop reading. Well done, H.S. Clark. This won't be the last I see of you!

Loved every word of it! A fast paced modern thriller and murder mystery on the cutting edge of medical technology. Dr. Clark's expertise shines through a set of delightful characters. I'd recommend this book to anyone who likes thrillers or mysteries. You don't have to be a techno-geek to love Secret Thoughts. The premise is current and all too real, given the NSA type computer spying that seems to be out of control worldwide. Secret Thoughts delivers the goods!

Secret Thoughts is a high-powered medical techno-thriller that had me on the edge of my seat. I picked it up thinking I'd read a few pages before bed, and the next thing I knew it was 2 am. Dr. Clark's medical expertise comes through in an engaging writing style. His characters are flawed like the rest of us, but resourceful. The main character, Paul, the anesthesiologist, is easy to relate to. He's prone to over analyzing, often getting it wrong, but always getting deeper into trouble. He takes the reader on a wild ride, from the elite circles of Seattle, to the back alleys of South America, exploring the evil potential of computers in medicine. And always with a sense of humor and irony that shows a deep understanding of the human condition. There were so many twists and turns in Secret Thoughts it made me dizzy. The ending took me by surprise. A very fun read and I highly recommend it. Those with backgrounds in medicine or computers will especially enjoy it, but readers of thrillers, mystery, and the technologically challenged will also love it.

Secret Thoughts a Medical Thriller grabbed me from the start and wouldn’t let me go. The suspense kept building until my heart was pounding. I was sucked into the story right along with the characters, and felt like one of the family. Dr. Clark paints a believable and frightening picture of the future of high tech medicine. The unlucky hero, Dr. Paul Powers, is a victim of circumstances beyond his control. He must think “outside the box”, abandon his privileged life in Seattle, and adventure through the back alleys of South America to prove his innocence. Like the classic Joseph Campbell reluctant anti-hero, Paul Powers uses his medical knowledge and MacGyver-like skills to triumph, but every minor victory gets him deeper into trouble. The narrative showcases Dr. Powers’ deductive reasoning, as he struggles to discover the truth. All the twists and turns tossed me around like a rag doll. Secret Thoughts is a murder mystery who-dun-it of the highest order. You don’t have to be a tech or medical person to love Secret Thoughts. It’s a fun read, and I’m amazed at how Dr. Clark lays bare complex technology so that even I can understand. I’d like to see Dr. Powers adventures develop into a series. If you love mysteries, thrillers, a good who-done-it, or you’ve ever wondered what the doctor is thinking, then you should read Secret Thoughts. Next, I’m going to listen to the audiobook.

My husband, who loves to read thrillers, and he is very critical about books, found SECRET THOUGHTS: a Medical Thriller, a fascinating story which had captured his attention so much that he didn't want to put the book aside.
I love thrillers as well, in books and movies, and I enjoyed reading so much this book that I though I was watching a powerful and intense movie: with drama and humor at the same time.
I highly recommend to read this book.

H.S. Clark’s book, ‘Secret Thoughts’ feels like a cross between Michael Crichton’s ‘The Andromeda Strain’ and William Gibson’s ‘Spook Country’—not entirely in plot, but in the sheer way the book propels you into the thick of white-knuckle suspense, yet, surprisingly, it doesn’t sacrifice depth and emotional gravitas.

‘Secret Thoughts’ is an absolute delight to read—the language crackles with the texture of its setting, with the vibrancy of its painstakingly developed characters, wrapped up in a plot that chugs along at full speed right at the get-go. The book starts out with a seemingly accidental series of deaths—people dying from cold medicine—only it turns out those were not accidents. Worse, the fingers of blame point to Dr. Paul Powers—the only person who’s putting everything on the line just to find the real culprit. And that’s only the beginning, as the thick blanket of intrigue close in on Powers, you will not be able to put the book down.

What’s more, author Clark knows his science and technology—he has an uncanny way of dipping his arm in hard science only to heighten the choke-hold on the reader’s imagination, and emerge from it with a flourish. Let me just suffice it to say that I love ‘Secret Thoughts’ to shreds—this is a rare literary treat that you don’t find everyday on Kindle or anywhere else. Those who love the genre will totally dig this. A solid five-star rating for this immensely entertaining book!
