I first heard of this band last year from the HIM message board when someone mentioned that they remade "Wings of a Butterfly." I heard it and was instinately hooked. Victoria has an amazing voice that kind of reminds me of Natalie Merchant or Amy Lee. Very gothic, yet soft, romantic ballads. This 23 song, 2-disc cd is simply...amazing. I highly recommend this cd and cannot wait for another one to come out. Favs: Closer, Redemption, If Tomorrow Comes. It's about time Amazon got this cd on its site, Cdbaby has had it for awhile. Too bad they do not play GREAT stuff like this on the radio instead of Britney and those other poptarts.

Victoria Mazze is a modern-day musical goddess to add to the already awe-inspiring pantheon which includes Sharon den Adel (of course!), Tarja Turunen, Maya Von Doll, Tori Amos, Joanna Newsom, The Mediaeval Baebes et al.
Despite having owned this album for about a year, I've never really managed to progress beyond Disc 1. That is because it is such a perfect melding of truly divine songwriting, melody, riffs, sexuality, sensuality and spirituality! Sure, Victoria is the heart and soul of the band, but the other musicians are also exemplary. The lyrics and songscapes are, by turns, dark, brooding, uplifting, ecstatic, highly symbolic... and overall an epic hymn to female energy.
Personal faves include Closer, Haunted, Secrets, Redemption, Blessed... hell, they're ALL fantastic songs.
You simply can't afford to bypass this unique, fascinating, edgy, magical band with a faorce-of-Nature frontwoman!

I first heard about the Divine Madness in college when a friend of mine was working to promote them in Dallas. I was instantly interested and was excited to get a copy of this album when it was first released. I have since had the songs in my itunes library now and never get tired of hearing one when the shuffle brings it up. I am glad to know that they have a second album out, and if their interesting mix of gothic and ballad survives, I hope they can push through to the future. Definitely an album worth buying for the great mix and nice change from the bland pop on the radio currently.
