Editorial Reviews

Review

5.0 out of 5 stars
From a retired judge's perspective.
I have read all of John Ellsworth's books. Even as a retired judge I find all of the legal wrangling interesting and sometimes amusing.

5.0 out of 5 stars  John hits another one out of the park
From a prosecuting attorney's perspective.
John is simply put a great legal fiction writer. As a practicing prosecuting attorney for 35 years, I appreciate an author who knows the rules of court and what is and isn't allowed and follows those rules. Some authors tell great courtroom stories but their disregard of the rules of evidence and legal ethics detract from the stories as they are not realistic. John has the unique ability to craft clever and original plots but still follows legal rules of court. This is what sets him apart from many writers of courtroom fiction. I like his other series, and this one is just as well done as those.
American Institute for Justice
New York - John Ellsworth's second novel in his new series featuring attorney Michael Gresham is an intricate quilt of legal facts and motives. As the book progresses, Gresham finds that he and his wife, Danny, have provided lodging to a young man who has been accused of murdering a classmate who may, in fact, be guilty of the crime. It turns out the boy's father is Michael Gresham's priest, which opens the door to the temporary lodging in the first place. Then the story deepens and additional characters surface who may also have been involved in the continuing series of crimes against the school girls. The novel is reminiscent of books by John Grisham and Michael Connelly, but goes much deeper into the whys and wherefores of courtroom work from the perspective of the trial lawyer. If you love good legal drama, you're sure to love this book. John Ellsworth is also the author of the ten-book series, Thaddeus Murfee, starring a much younger version of the iconic trial lawyer we fans of legal fiction love to read about. These books alone have been downloaded over 500,000 times. The new Michael Gresham series is sure to follow suit as the reception by the reading public has been phenomenal. There is a third Gresham book which will be published May 7, 2016, which is titled Michael Gresham: The Law Partners. A stunning portrait of a trial lawyer we all like to follow, that's the Michael Gresham we find in these exciting, spell-binding pages.

From the Author

John Ellsworth practiced law while based in Chicago.
For thirty years John defended criminal clients across the United States. He has defended cases ranging from shoplifting to First Degree Murder to RICO to Tax Evasion, and has gone to jury trial on hundreds. His first book, The Defendants, was published in January, 2014. John is presently at work on his fifteenth legal thriller, which, it is hoped, will be published before June, 2016.

Reception to John's books has been phenomenal
More than 500,000 have been downloaded in 24 months. All are Amazon best-sellers.

John Ellsworth lives in Arizona. He has two dogs that ignore him and worship his wife. He predicts he will publish 4-6 books in 2016, including two in the Michael Gresham series, maybe three.

I have written all my adult life. Books come to me easily and quickly. I hope you enjoy my books, the characters, the storylines, the run-and-gun and courtroom challenges, as much as I have enjoyed writing them. Nothing in these books should ever be considered to be true. But judges and lawyers remark over and over how accurate these cases and trials always are.
