I bought this book as a supplement (meaning something to break up the snooze fest of other pre-pregnancy books I'd bought). Its a little bit of information, and a little bit of fun. It is NOT, however a resource type book so if you're looking for advice on giving birth, child rearing etc then this isnt for you. I read the whole book in a few hours so the spine isn't even creased. I', plan to gift a copy to a relative who is expecting her first child. I would definately recommend this for anyone looking for a laugh about pregnancy and we all know that laugh relieves strees and stress is bad for the baby.

Funny; light-hearted, easy to read. I appreciated that this book offered comical advice without being in your face. If you're looking for a book that will provide a glimpse into what to expect as a new mom without an obnoxious, opinionated author, then I recommend this book.

This is my first pregnancy and I was hoping for a good read with some laughs. Well, I maybe laughed couple of times, but this book hardly provides you with any secret. I agree with one of the reviewers - most of the information is either common knowledge or you can easily get it just by casual conversation with other moms. Better take your friends for coffee than spend money on this book.

Also I was dissapointed because I feel that the author put very little effort in this book, especially to cover relevant and crucial topics. For example, she had a c-section so don't expect anything useful regarding vaginal delivery, although there is chapter for that and you can read on the cover "learn what actually happens during childbirth".

I was looking forward to read this book, but now I regret that I did.

You know how your girlfriends say they will tell you everything you need to know about pregnancy and then you hear about, or even worse experience, something and every mother is like “oh yea, that’s normal, didn’t you know about that?” If you are like me your answer is “Umm, no! And boy I wish I had.”

Thankfully we all have Heather Alexander and her book The Secrets of the Mommyhood. I honestly loved this book. It’s a quick read, but all the information is pure gold. She talks about everything from what to expect from certain doctor’s visits to specific lists of what to ask childcare providers and pediatricians. And if you are like me, you didn’t even know you were supposed to ask them questions so those lists are doubly handy. Alexander even braves talking about the birthing process and the all the postpartum loveliness. That’s right, carrying the baby may end up being the easy part.

I have to tell you my favorite part of the book are some of Alexander’s personal stories. I literally laughed hysterically when she talked about telling off an old lady in the mall and I still laugh when I try to tell it to someone else. She keeps everything light and humorous, which is a trick when you are dealing with a subject that can get serious real quick.

If you are going to read one book about pregnancy/babies this is it. I have given this book to so many people since I read it and they were all grateful for it. For me, pregnancy was scary because it was totally unknown. Alexander covers it all, from early pregnancy symptoms to what to expect from strangers in the store. She tells it like it is and I was truly excited when she would mention something I had experienced and all I could say was, “Thank goodness it wasn’t just me.”

Enough "W's" for you? I found this book really helpful. It actually gave you the reality of parenting and not the stuffy, dry reading of something like the medical books and "how to" books

I finished this book in my 26th week of pregnancy and absolutely loved it! The chapters and sections were short, to the point, and easy to read. There were tons of tips there and things I had no idea about and hadn't read in any other book or from other mommies. There were sections I read like "are you serious? that happens??" and then immediately texted my mommy friends for confirmation and to see what they experienced.

Secrets of the Mommyhood had great tips that go during your pregnancy, the delivery, handling a newborn, going back to work etc. She also included medical facts and stories from her girlfriends who had a different experience than her, which I appreciated.

If you're newly pregnant or have a friend who just found out they're pregnant, check this book out! It's the best pregnancy book I've read so far. Plus, it's hilarious, like a girlfriend is just telling you how it really is.

I'm almost finished the book and I already plan to reread and highlight and take notes so I don't forget anything. So many amazing tips and helpful things to try to remember! I'm glad the author also wrote about other people's experience so there is a great amount of examples in the book.

Great book so far, very easy to read, and broken into short chapters so it is easy to find the answers to questions you have been wondering. The author is very realistic, and has helped me feel more prepared for mommyhood!
