This book clears away the mystery and offers a practical, scientific look at how to accomplish whole-body integration through understanding the role of that all important body part, the pelvis. While giving a wealth of detail on the subject, it also shares a personal journey through the author's mental and physical development on the "internal" path. I highly recommend this work to anyone interested in internal development or simply in improving their ease of movement.
A few of the suggestions have allowed me to get better balance and performance of my form. I am getting my chi to flow sooner in the form than at any time in the past four years. The author also starts where most students will be comfortable both physically and emotionally and moves deeper into the study and practice. And, while I was a bit skeptical about the use of teh word "SECRETS" in the title, I understand that publishers are looking for a marketing angle that will help to seel the product. After reading the book, I believe that it is not so much a secret, but a misunderstanding and less than clear presentation of the principles that has been the secret. for the student looking to improve their practice and grow in their martial arts proficiency I would strongly suggest they read this book and incorporate the exercises for meditation and balance. Clyde Beury, level two, Yang Family Style Tai Chi
As described in the book, "There are many paths to the mountain". Michael's book tells one excellent path based on his personal experience. If you are a serious learner of martial arts, this is the book for you. You won't regret it.
Personally, I had to put the book down more than once to digest to explore so I would understand and experience the material Michael shares. It would be real tempting to speed through some parts of the book - don't. Take your time notice what you are learning and apply it to your practice.
If you apply what you get from this book, your practice will deepen and transform and you'll find the skills and abilities that you've been looking for and finding elusive. Go for it.
The author has spent significant time creating a good collection of his own personal notes and links on everything to do with the Pelvic region. What is important to understand is that the Pelvis region is what supports the weight of the upper torso. And it is the connection between the upper and lower body.
Read this book it will save you years of learning by trial and error. I wish someone had guided me to this book way sooner. Like stated before if you are a MA this book is PURE GOLD
It's the best book I have ever read about Martial Arts and Qigong. It's not like some so-called bestsellers with fancy rhetoric to intentionally satisfy the readers. This book has scientific research backup and consolidated description about how to totally relax your body from inside. Along with the contents deepen, the mechanism of Qigong and how it works for your body are well explained from the author's unique perspective.
I come from China and have great interest in Qigong. I know where its advantages are compared to variety of healthcare methods. It's an eco-friendly and fundamental way to improve your health instead of some palliatives with chemical process. If you want to really relax your body and do some spiritual cleansing by Qigong, this book is a perfect guidance to lead you to experience the whole process. It's worth reading.
