There are three things in this world that I love: vintage cars, classic metal tunes, and my older brother, AJ. For as long as I can remember, it’s been AJ and me against the world. Now, in the wake of our father’s passing, everything has changed. Chained to the family business, my young life is all work and no play…until he walked in.
“Stay away from my sister.”
I was warned from day one. It should have been a simple enough task, but seeing her at work day in and day out proved to be harder than I thought. I drove into Morello and Son’s Restoration after five years away hoping for an oil change and a trip down memory lane. I wasn't looking for a job, and I never expected to fall for her.
I've read another book in the past about the no touching the sister bro rule and had enjoyed it, even chuckled at the fact that a teenager saying that I remember using myself with my guy friends was being used in a book, but Jane Anthony took it to the next level with Secrets And Promises. What had begun as a schoolgirl crush when she was younger, Jillian couldn't quite forget or get her brother's friend Jameson off her mind and did her best to get noticed in her teens - but let's face it, us ladies at that age are either just average, barely curveauseous and filling out our clothing or at the other side of the spectrum and for the most part, the butt of many jokes. Now the owners of their father' scar shop after his death many years later, Jameson is passing through, needing his Mustang tuned before continuing his journey only to find out that the man he considered a father has passed away. Offered a job, feelings and an attraction that neither Jillian or Jameson were prepared to experience draw them to one another, forcing A.J. to take out *drumroll* the no sister dating bro rule! I've never been a fan of books with characters that are overbearing brothers or family members that believe they know what's best for everyone else, but Jane Anthony has managed to create such a strong and independent woman in Jillian that I didn't have enough time to want to despise A.J. or try to figure out why he rubs me the wrong way. In the end, I found that the siblings complimented themselves very well just as Jillian and Jameson are one couple that pulled me right into their love story and kept me entrances until I was satisfied that they had their own little bit of happiness somewhere. Having had the chance to read Secrets And Promises has given me the hunger, or rather the impatience, to look forward to the next release from Jane Anthony - it really was that good of a read.

Jillian Morello is that fruit.
What a delight to read a story of ordinary people, not models, not billionaires, rock stars,
just the average joe.
Being a Jersey girl I was grooving on the location one I can identify with.
I imagined I was sitting next to Jameson and Jillian in Jenks sipping on a margarita
while I ease dropped on their conversation.
It’s a story that has been told before but worth the read.
AJ and Jillian are struggling to keep the family business afloat when an old friend
comes back to town.
I admired AJ and Jillian for giving up their own dreams to keep their dads business
When Jameson Tate moved away Jilly was just a girl, now she's all grown up and filled out
in all the right places.
Warned by AJ to stay away from his sister Jameson’s inner battle to honor that
request soon falls apart when he begins working at their repair shop.
(quote) “I’m only going to say this one time, Jameson. You are welcome to hang out, and I appreciate your help at the shop, but my sister is off-limits.” ~AJ
You know how this is going to go, right?
A hug, a soft caress, turn into stolen kisses until they can’t deny the firestorm
Steamy secret moments until AJ blows the whistle on Tate’s secret past.
Didn’t see that one coming, kudos to the author for an original scenario.
Really enjoyed this one. The characters, location, the music all fit together
This is Author Jane Anthony‘s debut novel and if this is any indication of
what’s to come I will be stalking her!
Jameson Tate is a friend from the past. He has come into town after five years so that he can handle some business. Little does he know that this will not be just a quick stay. He makes a stop by the shop to visit the Morello family, he learns of their current situation, and he stays on to help them out as much as he can.
Something begins to happen between Jameson and Jillian. Initially, neither of them understands it. Jillian used to be just AJ’s kid sister. A cool kid that used to hang around when they were trying to create a garage band together. But after five years, she is so much more now.
AJ is adamantly against there being a relationship between Jillian and Jameson. Something from Jameson’s past is casting a shadow over his current relationships.
Will the truth set them all free, or will things cause a rift that can’t be overcome ?
I was given an arc for an honest review.
