This was great. Although if you’re expecting a straight-up paranormal romance, this isn’t it. Even though it kind of is.
I found this little book wonderfully layered and complex, with unexpected twists. I look forward to the next installment.
My only complaint (and it is minor) is the name of the main character, Mellissa. In every scene, my mind wanted to see the correct spelling of Melissa. Again minor. I realize that well-intentioned parents all want their kids’ names to be unique these days (or, god forbid, Youneek), but it still grates.
Otherwise, outstanding novella. Highly recommend!

Overall: 4 stars!!!
Bertram and Mellissa are both very well developed. I came to this book knowing nothing of these characters as I have not yet read The Soul Guide. But I will now that I have read and enjoyed this book.
This is one of the reasons I love taking a change on new indie authors.
the storyline is well thought out and told with a flair that allows the author to pull the reader effortlessly along and into the book.
Now that I have the backstory, I am eager to read more about these two characters and the world they live in.
I would recommend this book to those who have the guts to take a chance and a leap of faith on a new author. To those who love well-developed characters and who love fantasy.
Wonderfully written, with realistic dialogue and well-formed characters, it leaves you wanting to read more.
