I am raising my nephew because he does not have a good relationship with his mother. She has some issues in her life that out of respect I won't get into here, but based on the void of course moon chart the author included in the book I determined that my nephew is a void of course child. He's had a very difficult life and the difficulties began when he was only weeks old. There is a short chapter in the book about VOC children and it specifically says these children may have an absentee mother among other maternal issues. These maternal issues are so precise as they relate to my sister and my nephew that it cannot be coincidental. Furthermore, my nephew totally believes that he has control over his own life (his successes and such). By age 12 he was adamant that he did not believe in God and that everything is up to him. The right side of his chart is pretty much blank. All planets are on the left side of his chart. According to Secrets From a Stargazer's Notebook when one has most planets on the left side, he believes his life is in his own hands rather than fate.
My younger sister (not my nephew's mom) is like our mother in that she is very religious and believes there is something else controlling our destinies. Most of her planets are on the right. My planets are pretty scattered. Spiritually I'm all over the place. I want to believe I have control over my life, but I always go back to destiny.
For days I have been searching and searching for more, more, more about astrology. I am a true believer thanks to this book. I only wish that more people would provide more detailed info about their experiences as there are hundreds of thousands of astrology books out there and it would make it much easier to discern which ones to purchase. I am reading this book for a second time and looking for astrology courses to take online. I HIGHLY recommend this book. I truly believe I could have had a much better, more successful life if only I had discovered it when I was in my twenties and planning my adult life and career.
I only gave the book four stars because although it is an excellent book obviously written by an intelligent and skilled astrologer I would have preferred it to be longer. I think there are some things she could have gone into more detail about such as the astrological houses and how they really affect our lives. This is already a thick book. She could have written maybe a part two or a second volume, but it never fails--when you find a great author you only desire more and sometimes there just isn't more.
Regardless, I still recommend the book to anyone interested in the subject, but if you are like me, you'll be looking for a good reference-type book to further your understanding and learning.
