Hot and cold frothed milk for cappuccinos, hot milk for lattes; Maximum capacity: 250 ml (for milk froth preparation), 500 ml (for hot milk preparation); Maximum level indicators for milk frother and milk warmer, and minimum milk level indicator; Stainless-steel exterior with vacuum insulation; Detachable base Troubleshooting tip: If milk residue sticks to the whisk and slows down the whisk rotation, fill the frother with warm water and use the soft brush to remove milk residue around the axle. 2-Year Manufacturer's Limited Warranty. TROUBLESHOOTING TIPS: - The device heats milk to a temperature between 140 - 160 degrees Fahrenheit. This has been determined to be the optimum temperature for drinking since at higher temperature, the foam will dissipate faster. There is no option to adjust this heat setting. - Please make sure the milk is fresh. The milk frother relies on the protein in the milk to make foam. The protein in the old milk starts to decompose even before the expiration date, and thus not able to make foam. It is the protein not the fat content of the milk that produces the foam. - For hot froth please make sure to first place the frothing whisk in place, fill the unit to the max fill line for frothing and then short press the on/off button and release immediately. Both red and blue LED lights will then light up. When the cycle is over the red LED light flashes red indicating the milk is ready.

This milk frother/warmer has a stainless steel pitcher with a clear, plastic lid. It comes with a disc style base that is exactly the same diameter as the pitcher so it doesn't take up a huge amount of space on the counter. The interior of the pitcher is coated with a non-stick surface which makes cleaning very easy.
Operation is simple as there is only one, rubberized button on the pitcher. One short press begins heating and frothing. One long press froths without heating the milk. There are working lights that glow steady while it is heating/frothing and begin blinking when the milk is done.
Inside the pitcher are max fill marks for heated milk and for frothed milk. You really need to pay close attention to not overfilling because if you do, it will overflow onto everything.
There are two attachments included. One is a round spring that froths milk. The other is a small black plastic thing that is for just heating milk with no frothing. You place whichever attachment you choose on the little heating element that sticks up in the bottom of the pitcher and snap the other attachment into the prongs located on the underside of the lid for storage.
This makes loads of silky, glorious, frothed milk! You can use any milk but skim and low fat make the most luxurious froth. The 500ml capacity froths enough milk for at least two cappuccinos, which is exactly what I wanted.
Clean up is easy but don't skip it because a little milk does caramelize on the bottom of the pitcher. It comes with a small brush for this purpose but you can also use any soft-bristled, dish brush.
You can buy a set of replacement frothing and heating attachments and I did since tiny things tend to get lost at my house. These work perfectly. Chef's Star Premier Milk Frother Replacement Universal Whisks Set of 4 ...
My only complaint so far is that the max fill lines are very hard to see and if you want to avoid a mess, you can't over fill even a little bit. Not all of my family is careful about this so I placed the base on a dessert plate to catch any overflow. Also, I carefully filled the pitcher with water to the max fill line for frothed milk and then poured the water into a small measuring cup. I then marked the line on the measuring cup with red nail polish. Now, I pour the milk into the measuring cup and then into the frother to avoid over filling. I would love it if Secura made the fill lines more visible on future models or included a small, marked measuring cup.
Otherwise, I love having frothed, heated milk for my cappuccinos and lattes and have been very pleased with the performance of this frother.
I returned it and am hoping that Secura can remedy the problem. It likely stems from the manner they attach the frothing cage. Nespresso uses a closed magnetic affair where the milk doesn't have a way in to the works. Unfortunately Secura doesn't use this construction.
I guess one gets what one pays for. I'd pass on this until the design improves.
It is however a GREAT company to work with! They processed returns promptly and without question. Shipping was fast and secure.
The downside is the huge amount of foam. About half as much foam would be plenty.
Another gripe is pouring the milk from the container nearly always causes it to dribble down the side and onto the counter. You'd think a product designed to heat milk would also pour it well, but not in this case. Not a deal-killer, but annoying.
The biggest frustration is the consistent scalding of the milk on the bottom. It does not affect the taste of the milk, but it's a hassle to clean up. I keep a soft rubber spatula nearby and rub down the bottom of the non-stick container each time right after pouring the milk. Again, annoying, and something you wouldn't expect to be a problem in an appliance whose sole job is to heat milk!
We'll keep it, but I wouldn't buy it again.
Update: June 2015, had unit almost a year. Worked great for 6 months, when it suddenly stopped working, wouldn't turn on. We contacted Secura,.and they sent a replacement unit in less than a week. Might have gotten a little wet on the outside.of the unit when wiping it down but never submerged it. If a damp towel causes the unit to fail, that's a design flaw, since you will have to clean the outside.sometimes. But they did honor the warranty, so no harm. And we'll just use dry towels now, just to be safe.
