Then I found this little gem and read all about it and figured I'd give it a shot. I AM SO THRILLED I DID!
Not only does this cook FAST, and is it better to use with the temperature settings as well as timing, but the VERY solid glass base and glass top ensure no cracking plastic like I've had before! Its fairly silent (though you can of course hear the fan running) and cooks food PERFECTLY!
I use mine, without fail, at least three times a week each and every week. I live alone, so I put a couple of chicken pieces in there, season them up, turn it on, then when it bings I turn the chicken, season again, and 10 minutes later its done! PERFECT EVERY TIME!
Clean up is also exceedingly easy as the big base and the racks go right into the dishwasher! The lid you have to clean by hand, but that's not a big hassle at all.
I can't recommend this highly enough. I don't think I'll be needing to replace it any time soon.
Despite of what is listed on Amazon page as far as the accessories, the unit came with the extension ring included. Considering the substantial price drop from the 777 model and all the improvements, I decided not to take away a star for the flimsy handle, although for someone with less dexterity this may become a "pain-in-the-wrist" :) issue when a hot lid has to be replaced for additional cooking.
Very well made unit, cooks about the time it would have taken to preheat the big oven. Plus it lights kitchen in a very cool glow so I can turn off main lights. Perfect for singles and couples who don't need a big full course dinner using their oven. Frozen and fresh Fish cooks very fast. I find myself using this unit 3-4 days a week. Stove top rest of the time or microwave for soups and such.
I had originally thought I'd just use it occasionally, but to my surprise I use it a lot, so it now has a spot on the countertop. The bowl is very heavy so be careful when moving to the sink to spray clean. I use the silicone oven mitts as they help hold slippery glass that's heavy.
All in all, this was one of the best cooking appliances i have bought.. Would highly recommend !!
So far so good. first I just put 3 chick. breasts in it for 25 min. WHOA, really overdone. (I suggest 18min). Ordered a cookbook, tried a recipe, really liked it. Then made some ribblets (very small pork ribs) in it with a bbq sauce...PERFECT.
Learning to cook in it is a "work in progress", I really think this will be a "keeper" though, especially in the summer, when I just do not want to turn on the oven! I'll keep trying new things, I like it.
