This flashlight is branded by different manufacturers engraving their own name on the it's body (Ultrafire, Windfire, SecurityIng, etc . . .). But I think they are all made by one company. At the time of this review Price varies from $6.00 to $30.00, depending on the engraved name. However, based on reviews (from generic to known brand names of this flashlight, with CREE XM-L T6 LED emitter), I decided to go with $10.00 - $15.00 price range & this review is for one with SecurityIng brand.

This flashlight is very bright, much brighter than my 250 Lumens. However, I seriously doubt if it is 1600 Lumens. It is twice brighter than my 250L, but definitely not 5 or 6 times brighter. I am getting sufficient light with 3 x AAA batteries & I have not run this flashlight with 18650 type batteries yet, but I am sure it will be brighter. Even with AAA batteries the light is so bright that it may damage the eyes if you try to loo into the flashlight directly.
Despite impressive amount of light that it produces, when zoomed in, the light becomes square shape rather than circle. The more you zoom in, the more square shape the light will be at the end. Beside the square shape light, the location of the button at the tail of flashlight is not that convenient & it is not as quick as button on the side to turn off & on.
Overall is a bright & stylish flashlight outperforming many more expensive ones, but if you get it below $15.00, it is worth it, but not more than that.

Update 02-02-2014:
I finally got a chance to get my hands on 18650 Batteries (3200mAh) & compare the output of this flashlight with some higher end flashlights.
1st: The amount of light produced with 18650 battery is at least twice brighter than 3 x AAA batteries.

I am so pleased with this flashlight. I was looking for a rechargeable flashlight for taking the dog out at night - I was just going thru too many batteries! most of the rechargeable ones were not very bright so I purchased this flashlight along with a some eneloop rechargeable batteries and couldn't be more pleased. I love that when the dog wanders to the back of my yard (200 feet), I can use the zoom feature and see him plain as day - amazing. If you're on the fence about this one I'd suggest you go ahead and buy it!

Before you give me a bad rating because I gave this light only 2 stars, please read first.

I bought 2 of these lights for cycling at night. With the proper mount they do blast some light down the trail. But any consistent vibrations or jarring and they will fail.

Light #1 failed the 2nd night on my wife's bike and she only rides a asphalt bike path. No bumps, no ruts, no nothing, just a smooth ride. The light started strobing on it's own then died. The smell leads me to believe that it shorted itself out.

Light #2 failed on the 3rd week. This night was my 8th night with the light. Everything was going fine until I hit the 11 mile mark (halfway) point of my light trail ride. The light didn't even give any warning. BAM! it was out. I was in the dark. I hit 2 trees and banged up my knee. Luckily I had a spare light and made it home okay.

So, if you're considering ANY type of outdoor activity like cycling, hiking, or climbing, I would pass on this light. It will fail. Maybe not right away, but it will fail. Just ask my knee.

This unit has a great zoom system. You can slide the front portion forward which narrows the beam to 1 foot square projection beam at 10 foot. I shoot it across the field and it lights up the hill with minimal side glare.

A bit tricky when turning back on. It remembers the previous mode most of the time. But sometimes it will be on the next setting when turned back on. So, you can lightly tap the button and switch forward to the next mode.

So settings are High, medium, strobe, SOS.

Downside is that it operates at typical high frequency LED light spectrum (color temperature) which when exposed to atmospherics such as fog, rain, items in the foreground, you will get a bit of glare off of the surrounding. This is typical of any near blue color spectrum illumination. If you want lowest possible glare, buy one of these models which operate in red or green using fluorescent reaction LEDs.

The flashlights came as shown and as described. Extremely bright and feel well made. Easy and flexible to use. The only thing I would say is that these flashlights were rated at a 1600 lumens and cost $12, which is a great price for the flashlight (compare that with prices at a Home Depot or like store). However. prior to that, I had bought a Cree Q5 7W flashlight that advertised less lumens but was almost as bright, yet only cost me about $7. It too was zoomable. The major difference is that the XM-L T-6 light has a couple of extra light modes, like flashing. Since I bought the light as a flashlight, the extra modes were not a major thing. The XM-L light is a bit longer than the Q5, but both take 3 AAA batteries. If you just want a strong and compact flashlight, I would save the $5 and get the Q5 (the one I have doesn't have a brand name on the barrel, only says "CREE Q5 7W". I think that there are a few different versions that are getting shipped, because some comments are negative about the light or the construction, and some are positive. In my case, both lights (XM-L T6 and the Q5 7W both work well, are very bright, and seem well made.

UPDATE: May 2015 - The light works as described above, HOWEVER, I am finding that the durability of this flashlight is a bit weak. The unit I use the most, although not a lot, stops working with the gentlest of bumps. I have to bang it against my had gently to get it back on. While it is very bright and works great as a flashlight, I am now hesitant to give it 4 stars and have brought it down to 3 stars. As long as it doesn't take even the slightest of bumps, it is a good light!
