Find Stolen Vehicles or Computers with the eZoom GPS Tracker
Permanently mount the eZoom to a car or motorcycle or tuck it in a laptop bag or briefcase. Motion detection and stolen vehicle e-mail and text message alerts will tell you if your property has been moved, and A-GPS can track it to within five yards of its location.
E-mail and Text Alerts for Car Tracking & Movement
On the Securus website, you can create SafeSpots, such as your child's school or your car's garage, and receive alerts when the eZoom arrives at or leaves a designated area. Breadcrumb trails can show you where the eZoom has been, and when using the eZoom as a vehicle GPS device, you can set the eZoom to notify you if your vehicle travels above a certain speed.
An SOS button on the unit triggers an e-mail or text message alerting you to the unit's location.
24/7 GPS Tracking
You can find the location of your eZoom 24 hours a day on the Securus website or by sending a text message. The Securus website also offers a GPS tracking app that allows you to track your eZoom using your smartphone.
Quick Location with A-GPS
Assisted GPS (A-GPS) enhances the use of GPS satellites to quickly return the eZoom’s location. When GPS satellites are not in view, A-GPS uses your cell phone coverage area to provide the general vicinity for where your eZoom GPS locator may be found.
Lightweight and Waterproof Tracking Device
The eZoom weighs under 3 ounces and is smaller than a credit card. The waterproof shell of this tracking GPS device is durable, and the rechargeable battery lasts 3-21 days on a single charge, depending on use.

When asked to "track", a message is displayed suggesting it will take several seconds to a few minutes to find the device. The company is correct. It can take this long. When it is able to find the device, it is wonderful. It makes me confident that if I misplaced or had something stolen, and this device was "on board", I'd be able to find it within a very reasonable distance.
There are two difficulties I've encountered in my early experience with it.
First is that it inexplicably is unable to track the device at times that would seem simple. In fact, I was using the iPhone app to track the device, and the device could not be located. The device happened to be in my coat pocket, about a foot from my iPhone. This was not very confidence building. I suppose it is possible the iPhone app is the problem, and will test this more over time.
Second, battery life is short. I'm constantly getting messages that the battery is running low and to charge the device immediately. So, I think in order for this to have any hope of tracking, it must be charged almost every day or every other day. This is not very confidence building with respect to locating a lost or stolen item. I have the sense that if I can't find it in a day or two, this device won't be any help. Perhaps I just received a defective unit. I will contact the company and ask.
So, the long and short of is that I will continue to tuck the device into my laptop bag in the event the bag is somehow misplaced or stolen (visions of running after thieves at the airport....) as I know of no better way to recover such items (LoJack of course is useful, but not if the computer is turned off....)
I would be hesitant to rely on this device in any kind of "fail-safe" fashion, for example with children, as this device is fallible.
Perhaps as I use it more I will have additional favorable things to say.
In conclusion, when it works, it does work, so I will not be relegating this to a desk drawer or garbage, and will not return it as I'm not aware of a similar product available that is better/more reliable. As a "last resort" for child, computer, luggage, etc, it just might be the only thing that comes through.
This tells me that my phone does indeed query their servers, but with Android there is a problem.
I sought advice twice from the company, once over phone and once in an email. Both times the company said it is my cellphone carrier's problem, or that I am not connected to the internet. Well....I am connected to the internet because I can connect to their website from my phone and log in that way. Plus, this is the only "remote" app I have not working. My Logitech Alert, Nest, etc. all work fine.
In closing, I like the product and I am happy I bought it, but it appears their Android app is unusable to me (HTC One).
Update: Been using it for over a week now, and app is still not working. Web access is GREAT, however. Excellent tracking device, and works really well (except for the app). The eTrak device I am also testing is not working for me at all. I am updating my rating to four stars for the eZoom.
