"This book was absolutely amazing! I didn't realize when I bought it, that it was 600+ pages! I figured I would take a month to read it. It hooked me from the first 3 pages. I ended up reading the book just about nonstop for 2 days. Anyone wanting a great thought provoking book, grab this one now!" - Koditten ★★★★★
"Williams hits this one out of the park." - Jerry G. ★★★★★
"I've been studying American "democracy" for almost 40 years, step by laborious and painful step figuring out its Machiavellian nature--one genocide after another, endless wars of conquest based on propaganda and lies, erosion of liberties, growing inequalities, and, worse of all, dismantling the biosphere and threatening humanity's very existence. Phil Williams not only captures these horrors, but does so through a captivating, touching, well-crafted, novel. If you care about the golden rule, truth, justice, freedom, peace, and the future of humanity, you owe it to yourself to read this novel. And unlike the articles and books that dissidents like myself write, this is a beautiful work of fiction, a real page-turner.
A few minor philosophical points occurred to me. First, the answer in my view is not anarchism but real (miscalled direct) democracy (see: 7.4 Million Cheers for Real Democracy). Second, I entirely agree that we must give our rulers a bit of their own violent medicine, but there is a better way, in my view, than Williams' solution. Why isn't his solution going to work? In part because once you brainwash people, they find it excruciatingly difficult to change their minds (for more details, see the Wikipedia entry "Belief Perseverance" and especially the cited Festinger and Nissani experiments). And speaking of Wikipedia: It's a Deep State project, and should be treated with skepticism on anything that involves history, political assassinations, billionaires, Mafiosos, judges, congressmen, and presidents. Lastly, barely mentioned in this wonderful book is our rulers' gravest crime: if humanity continues on the present course, its chances of survival are close to zero (see online: The Human Experiment is Probably Coming to an End).
All in all, I've read two other novels by Williams, and in my view he is one of the best contemporary novelists in the English-speaking world." - Donna Nissani, Author, LIVES IN THE BALANCE: The Cold War and American Politics, 1945-1991 ★★★★★
"What an eye opening book! Through a very interesting story line, the author has taught me more about government, politics, monetary systems, banking, and propaganda than I've previously learned in my fairly well-educated life. Like Plato's cave, I can't go back to ignorance. As a novel, this was a wonderful book. As an educational tool, it was eye opening!" - LaLaw ★★★★★
"Fabulous book. The author researched this well and created a universe that I wish we lived in. This is the best novel I have read in quite a while." - Ame ★★★★★
"This was one of the best fiction based on truth books I've ever read. If you have a question that we are being duped by the government this will enlighten you." - Patrick R. ★★★★★
From the Author
The Revolutionary War was fought and won with 3 percent of the population at the time. A tiny minority of Americans believe any government to be the antithesis to freedom and a scourge to be ignored out of existence. Many of these Anarchists and Voluntarists have well-reasoned, logical, and ethical arguments against government.
What if this group were to grow to 3 percent and beyond?
Governments around the world are responsible for 250-300 million democide deaths in the past century. These are deaths of a government killing its own people and do not include war-related deaths. In the United States today, we have endless wars, the largest prison population on the planet, debt money created out of thin air, and many layers of government that grow in size each year like tumors. Maybe it's time to stop looking to the government to solve our problems. Maybe it's time to see through the propaganda perpetrated by our schooling, our culture, and our media. Maybe it's time to see the true source of the problem.

In addition to the drama and the well-executed story telling, the author includes a lot of factual information and historical references on which the plot derives a lot of its substance. These facts are not tedious nor are they diversions from the main story, although they do moderate the pace a bit in places - with the reward being well worth the time it takes to think rather than just passively waiting for the entertainment to flow. I really appreciate the fact that the author took the time to list references and sources for many of these facts at the back of the novel, and I plan to dig deeper in this fertile soil.
Not everyone will like everything said by the main characters, and in some cases, some people will probably be downright pissed. But, that's a good thing. If you find the factual background for the plot of this novel important and understandable, you may be able to play a role in preventing it from fully playing out in real life (despite the decades-long head start the bad guys have!). If you really disagree and believe you have better information, then formulating rebuttals to the important conclusion of this novel just might be a valuable service to mankind, or at least a contribution to creative problem solving.
"Sedition" is a novel that will make you think and leave you thinking. There is tragedy, betrayal, corruption, generosity, hate, love, forgiveness, and perhaps two things that are most important of all: A credible warning, and a basis for hope that it's not too late despite daunting odds.
Our government is a propaganda machine; distracting us with an emphasis on economy and encouraging consumerism. As long as we're distracted, maybe we're oblivious....
Intertwined in the story are many eye opening truths more should be aware of. As a bonus, there's some interesting reading found in the bibliography. Well done!
In a time when patriotism has taken on an irrational and oddly religious character, it was refreshing to have a main character who spoke the truth regardless of consequences. George's blunt presentation of the truth brought him into conflict with the powers that be, but also with those close to him. This is a reality I can relate to.
While this book was thought provoking, it was also highly engaging and an enjoyable read. Granted, not all of it was "fun" but I found it difficult to put down and thought the climax near the end was terrific. With an author that is not afraid to address the dark side of life, predicting how things will end becomes more difficult. I can honestly say I was thoroughly engaged right to the end.
Would have got **** without the unnecessary fill-in material (such as transcripts from blogs) that is annoying for the reader and encourages skimming pages to get back to the basic plot.
The timeline of the story jumps: sometimes the next chapter can be a continuation of the previous chapter, but then it can be years later with no indication of the timeframe.
I got the impression that the author was just venting his views on American politics via the medium of a novel.
STILL - basically enjoyed the story ….. without taking it seriously in the slightest :-) !
