Then I came across Sedu on Amazon... read what others were saying about the similarities to JF Beach Blonde and just had to give it a whirl. FINALLY. It does exactly what "Beach Blonde" did and has a very similar suntan oil, coco-nutty, vanilla undertoned smell. The scent is not overwhelming, but lasts. (Definitely makes you think you spent a weekend on the beach come Monday morning...) It can be used on wet or dry hair and like JF spray, has a nice all-day conditioning effect about it.Read more ›
Now that I've gotten over the fact that this product isn't the same, I really do like it. It doesn't leave a sticky feel at all, but nice waves. The instructions on the bottle say to spray and then twist hair into rope sections. That didn't work at all for my hair, but I've had good luck just spraying it on and then scrunching. I get soft, pretty waves. It does have a very strong scent (kind of like coconut)so you have to be careful about combining with other products.
I have long (about to the middle of my back) color-treated medium thickness hair that runs on the dry side (even when it isn't colored). My hair is naturally wavy, which lends itself to being more curly if I don't blow dry it. It doesn't look great natural so I tend to dry and straighten it. I typically wash my hair every 3-4 days.
I wanted this product to give me the beachy waves promised and/or give me an option to not heat-style my hair that uses my natural body.
I applied it exactly to the description on the bottle. I even tied off the cords that I twisted my hair into so they would stay put while they dried.
To me, I didn't find the scent overpowering as most people did. I think it smells nice.
My problem with the product is that it left my hair feeling sticky. Not hard or stiff like gel, just ...not clean. I had to wash my hair the next day because it didn't survive the night and felt like utter cr*p on my head in the morning. I also don't like not being able to brush my hair. It's ok for one day but after that it would be a birds' nest.
I didn't love the results either. I had 2 or 3 good beachy waves and the rest was just a mess. I had a big concert to go to that day so I put the front up in a clip and managed to get the rest looking decent enough; but I was really disappointed. It took a lot more time than I expected and I felt dirty and not attractive at all.
I'd say I'll try it again using different techniques...Read more ›

My hair has just enough wave that I can scrunch it with gel/mousse while wet, air dry it, and get by (on those days I don't take the time to style), but I dislike the crunchy... Read morePublished 10 months ago by Rob

This is a little thicker than I wanted, but it smells good and does give a tossled look. Pretty inexpensive as these products go, so it worked.Published 11 months ago by laurie95032
Disclaimer: I have naturally wavy fine hair (not super wavy but a little bit- def gave it more body and wave though) so I'm not sure how good it would work on straight hair. Read morePublished 12 months ago by Beth
