This book is amazing. The characters are very developed, and the storyline, thus far, has no holes that I was able to find. The story, being told from Rose and Derek's, and occasionally Blake's, point of views, leaves the reader as much in the dark about events as it does the character who's telling the part. There's a lot of emotion of all kinds almost charging the pages of this book, and the way it's told will leave the reader a bit disoriented when it finishes, since their senses will return to the now as they leave the story behind.
This book is NOT for those who dislike cliffhanger endings, this book ends with a cliffhanger that leads the reader into book 2, Seduced by Pain. I am anxious to read book 2.
I give this book 5 of 5 paws
Rose is 19 and had a very sheltered life on the compound. Rose’s powers were unknown to the coven when she was little, but at the young age of 6 she killed her first person. What the coven did not know is that she was death. With a touch she could kill, but not kill. She killed souls while the body lived on. Everyone in the coven became scared of her; accept her best friend, Ocean.
Rose’s mother was the coven leader. Rainbow was a very powerful earth witch who created their coven. What Rose didn’t know is that Rainbow had a hidden agenda. Rose has to defend her mother, using her touch of death on a shape shifter that is attaching Rainbow. Is this the first step in a very intergraded plot to be all powerful? Will there now be a war between the druids and the witches?
Rose decides to do some rebellion and wants to learn to defend herself. The first person she literally runs into is the man of her dreams. She has dreamed of Derick for a long time. He becomes her teacher and so much more. Has she found love?
I really loved the romance part between Rose and Derick, also loved the friendship between Rose and Ocean. Rainbow seems to be a good villain. The loss for a star was because I found, at times, that the description was wordy and I felt that I wanted to skim to get to the action, something I knew that was coming next.
Seduced by Innocence (Book 1) is the first I a long line of books by Kimberly Kinrade.
First off, the cover is original and very classy which had drawn me from the start. I expected originality and classiness within its pages as well and I think the author did a lovely job in creating this.
I love a good paranormal story, especially shifter stories where the author creates a world so believable that you do wonder if these creatures doesn't exist in reality. Ms Kinrade did just that, she came up with an original story mixing it with Shakespeare's writing to explain the feelings and emotions of the characters and their experiences; still keeping it contemporary so that we modern thinkers can relate to it.
Loved Rose and Derek's characters. Both struggled with their inner demons as they try to find their own footing in the world. Both have secrets that can destroy the budding relationship between these two.
But yet you sense in both of them a strong will to be their own person, very grown up in their dealings with the situations they faced, which makes this a great book.
The plot is unique and has a steady build up and I would most definitely read the rest of the books within this series.
The sex scenes are done tastefully with enough passion to make it sizzle even if there were no sexual intercourse between them, yet.
Rose's mother seems obsessed in destroying the Druids and you cannot help but feel there is more to come with the lies she tells everyone in her coven. The hold she has over them, especially on Rose and her gift, isolating them from the outside world; keeps your attention and you want to know her motives in all of this.
Overall a great story that is well written and set at the right pace to understand the author's attention as it continues to build.
Thanks for a wonderful read.
