This fun romp gives an insightful glance into the post trauma lif of a retired K9 and dive team officer,
who falls for a Hollywood screenwriter with a dog phobia.
Sometimes painfully real insight into fears and phobias.
Oddly, somehow also ascerbic, pun-filled and ironically funny.
A great read if you like your action, adventure and romance in one funny bundle.
The advance copy I read of this book was my first by this author, and it certainly won’t be my last! She brings together two damaged people whose pasts still have a stranglehold on them and prevent anything more than existing, much less a romantic relationship. These characters are complex, vivid and endearingly flawed, and it was easy to form an immediate connection with them and become vested in their outcome. Their story is told with emotion and heart, with just the right amount of appealing quirk and delightful cheesiness that takes the humor over the top! My only negative is that the story would have been stronger had Catrina not capitulated so easily and had there been more discussion or give and take on Chef’s part. Still, it was a delightful, entertaining, heartwarming, inspiring story that is well worth reading!
I received an arc of this book and am voluntarily reviewing.
That said, this is a book I wouldn't have minded paying for. While the action gets off to a fast start (perhaps too fast?), I think the characters are well-developed, especially in dealing with his phobia and her PTSD. I enjoyed the humor and the fun throughout the book.
