I thought having a NASCAR driver as a romance hero was an interesting premise to what I expected to be a somewhat formulaic fake relationship trope, and I’m thrilled to say that I was so wrong! Christine Glover gave her characters such rich background stories, with rich personalities, that I was immersed in the story from the onset, especially because of Fiona who is the epitome of professionalism. For once, her being a PR rep was not just for show: I saw her work, how she negotiated for her client, still not giving in to her attraction to Jax, and he was not always easy to deal with. I also felt privy to a race car driver’s life; Ms. Glover’s wonderful descriptions perfectly conveyed the racing world, and of Italian opulence, among other places. Jax and Fiona have such different families, that only this made for captivating reading!
I loved how the fake relationship progressed to a real one, and it definitely did not happen in the blink of an eye. SEDUCING THE HEARTBREAKER is a fabulous departure from this all too familiar trope; I felt at all times that this story could be real, that Jax and Fiona were real people. There is what I could call the moment of revelation that was exceptionally well written: no over the top drama, but honesty and realistic heart-to-heart talk between people who had been friends, but had issues that needed to be dealt with. Fiona and Jax’s passion is so beautifully worded, their renewed connection so carefully crafted, I could feel the intensity of their relationship evolving organically. Jax is a very good man underneath his seductive playboy exterior, and I liked that a lot. The events that led to Stuart’s death and Jax’s crash are riveting and intrinsically linked to the romance.
SEDUCING THE HEARTBREAKER is an intelligent book, with intensely sensual sex scenes, and fully fleshed-out, realistic, and very engaging characters. Ms. Glover’s prose is impeccable, and with this book, the author’s tremendous writing skills shine as she makes a familiar trope seem brand new. SEDUCING THE HEARTBREAKER is a fine, fine book!

This is Fiona Maguire and Jax Hannigan's story.
Fiona and Jax have known each other for years. She has always had a crush on him. Jax has always been attracted to Fiona but she was dating and then engaged to his best friend who was killed in a wreck. Jax feels that his friend's death was his fault but Fiona has her own secrets about her fiancee's death.
Jax's reputation has him on the outs and without a car to redeem himself in NASCAR. Fiona is a PR expert and volunteers to help Jax. They end up pretending to be dating but is it just pretending? The chemistry is so hot between them and their feelings for each other is much more just physical. But they both have things that they have not revealed to each other. Will they lose their chance at true love?
Jax and Fiona's story was fun and steamy with some twists along the way. They have a lot of issues and things to work out. I could feel the characters emotions throughout the story. An enjoyable read.
FYI, contains mature content. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
I really enjoyed this book for two reasons. One, I am a fan of racing and the description of Jax is so well written you want to look for him on the track race day. Secondly, I can relate to the feelings Fiona has. She was the one out of the limelight in her family and she prefers being in the background. Her position as a PR rep suits her as she feels she is doing the one thing she knows how to do well - fix things.
Fiona and Jax both have feelings of responsibility of a particular outcome. These feelings are getting in the way of their every day lives as far as living with true happiness. This story dynamic is one from every day lives of many. Often we blame ourselves for things that are way beyond our control. In doing so, we hinder moments of joy and of blessings that could enter our lives. We may not be able to relate to the plush lifestyles of those with money but we all can relate to moments when we are our own worse enemy.
