Midori, unfortunately, either does not know how to, or does not bother to teach efficiently. Hence I cannot recommend this book.
In this book you will learn about knots, basic technique and safety. You'll learn about several different ties, and once you learn them, it's easy to incorporate them into original work of your own.
Yes, I recommend this book. I'm glad I bought it. You will be too.
More geared toward showcasing the beauty of the art.
THIS BOOK starts with a juicy description of a scene, then goes thru it piece by piece and gives insight to the feelings of both the person being tied and the person doing the tying, as they go. It's wonderful. I learned more from this book than 5 others combined.
Hint: Midori teaches this stuff... her classes are worth their weight in gold!!!!
The instructions are clear and very thorough, the pictures are beautiful and illustrate the rope work very well, and Midori goes into detail about scenes and after care and other important things on top of her rope instruction.
I would really recommend this to anyone, regardless of skill level.
Think of it as a beautiful coffee table book, or a valuable instructional tool, no matter how to spin it, it accomplishes its goal with beauty and grace, what else can you expect from Midori?
