Maris and her dreams are back in the second book of the Broadway Series. Maris wears her heart on her sleeve as she follows her singing path to New York City.
This is a character driven story and the characters are all wonderful. Maris has a new roommate, and still depends on her sister and best friend for support. I liked that she had a strong connection with her grandmother.
Maris approaches her love life with openness and possibility. In this book, she ponders her two boyfriends from the past, and a new love interest, Zack. Zack and Maris have a strong connection, possibly because he seems like Maris- creative, accepting, alive.
“I just want to enjoy the present, and right now the present includes Zack.
Along with her romantic possibilities, Maris has some interesting career choices. The coveted Broadway role she seeks is still elusive, but Maris has some solid opportunities with new performing arts companies. One of these companies, LivElle, brings together former problems from her past.
To me, the theme of the second Broadway Series is “Moving Forward”. Maris steps up her game- she learns to make more decisions on her own. From whether or not to leave Broadway, and start a new love relationship to trying yoga, spaghetti squash and gluten-free eating, Maris is ready to move forward!
She isn’t on Broadway yet- but part of her may be!
Author Baldwin writes with a humorous, positive voice and her witty dialogue and vivid scenes of New York City add to the delight of this read. Recommend! I didn’t not read book 1 (yet) and I still enjoyed this read.
“I’m ready to take the next steps in my life, and I’m not going to look back.”
I have read from Melissa Baldwin in the past and have enjoyed her previous offerings. To start off, I love her covers and See You Later Broadway was no exception. It was so easy to get along with Maris, even if she did have her selfish moments – because, who doesn’t? All the plot twists inside made the story very fast-paced and really fun to read. I was just waiting for Maris to shout out PLOT TWIST at any given moment after all the shake ups started happening! The love life of Maris was particularly interesting to read about, and I am really going to wait anxiously for book three in this series, because I have a feeling there will be more drama with how her relationship plays out! I do want to go back to read the first book in the series, See You Soon Broadway, because I have a feeling I will enjoy getting some back story on Maris and the supporting cast. If you are a fan of chick lit, you will love this story and I highly recommend!

Maris is chasing her dreams of being on Broadway, but she is still teaching voice lessons. You can tell she loves her job, but it is also obvious that she wants more. There are quite a few romantic interests in this book. Trevor is still interested. Kyle is hoping to win her back. And then there is Zack. Not only that, but Beatrice makes her final wishes known. And it is hard for Maris because Beatrice was her last connection to her beloved grandmother. Then, Maris is presented with an unbelievable opportunity that has her working with a few individuals that she had hoped she would never cross paths with again. I also loved Maris's mother in this book. She really changed a lot.
There are quite a few surprises in this book. Maris knows she has to follow her own dreams. And it was a pleasure reading her journey in this book. I hope there's another book in the works.
Would I recommend it? Yes. Definitely read See You Soon Broadway first.
