Describe your product in 3 words.
Play equals experience.
How did you come up with the idea for this product?
Childhood is an amazing time to learn and build skills, inspire ideas, and let imagination run wild. We recognize that kids want play to be a ‘real’ experience with ‘real’ materials, so we design products based on open-ended, creative play using high-quality materials that offer kids the experience of both making and playing.
What makes your product special?
Seedling products are designed to put children in control of their experiences, and encourage them to create their own adventures in playtime. We want the children to create what they imagine, not what we tell them to make.
What has been the best part of your startup experience?
The best part of building and growing Seedling is the people who’ve chosen to take this journey together. It takes a dedicated team to choose the path less-traveled, and there’s great level of admiration and respect among our team members. It’s amazing to look back and see where we've been and what we’ve built, and even more amazing to look ahead at where we’re going—together.

This is where we were involved in downloading the recommended VR app. It is slow, the games are agonizing and just not worth it. The worst part was the headaches that we all had immediately after putting this box down. For some reason I couldn't get my eyes to focus properly.
Do not recommend for children over 9 because they will become bored very quickly. Some will enjoy the personalization part when it comes to the decorating but then it will just sit on the shelf. Disappointed but then again, what did I expect from a carboard box.
First, the advertising for this product can be deceiving. It wasn't until it arrived that I finally understood that this product was the cardboard box viewer, and not the accompanying wooden maze box also. It still works without the wooden maze, but likely not as complete.
Second, the crafting part of this seems a little lame and confusing, because crafting has no effect on the product function and seems to just an after-thought on how to market this to be more than just a cardboard box.
Third, we used iPhone and it seemed to function fine. Put the iPhone in the end opening, close it up with the Velcro closure, and press a bottom on the view to make the app stop and start.
While it is playing, you will find yourself traveling through the maze virtual reality style. It became a little annoying when trying to turn your head around and not being able to fully control the environment. Although it seemed exciting and different at first, my son and I became quickly frustrating and now no longer pay much attention to it. Maybe we will turn back to it someday or maybe we won't.
Here's the trouble: As soon as the VR viewer was assembled, the smartphone was inserted and phase two (device decoration) was instantly forgotten in lieu of exploring the VR. The VR app the manufacturer suggests downloading leaves quite a bit to be desired with some cheesy, clunky games and movies. (Some digging on your favorite app store will be required.) Also, different family members had varying degrees of success getting their eyes to focus appropriately to see a single image (instead of seeing double). Be aware that can be quite frustrating, though I'm not sure if it's related to the device's construction.
If you've got a young crafter who likes to bedazzle everything, this would be a nice consolidated kit. Otherwise, I'd recommend you save a few $$ and look for another VR viewer.
