Two things: (1) I purchase this locally, so am reviewing the product and not pricing or shipping, and (2), I agree that to my palate this is not the most flavorful of the Seeds of Change blends. It is, however, a healthy side that has multiple textures and flavors, and a touch of the ancient. The blend is based on grains grown in the 'Fertile Crescent'

What I particularly love is the convenience of having this precooked. If you were to make this yourself it would involve individually cooking each type of grain because each has a different cooking time. Moreover, this has dietary fiber and protein that should be a part of any balanced diet. The grains in this blend are long grain brown rice, barley, rye, bulgur, red winter wheat, quinoa and wild rice. You can use this blend as a hot side or as a cold salad - Middle Eastern style - depending on the main course and your mood.

The seasonings and flavors, with the exception of the salt, are all certified organic. They give a subtle, but not overwhelming, flavor to keep the grains interesting instead of bland. I sometimes just squeeze a little fresh lemon juice or dribble olive oil over the mix. The spices and herbs used are: evaporated cane juice (essentially sugar), dried onion and red bell pepper, garlic powder, parsley, chili pepper, black pepper and cumin. There are also a few ingredients that you need to know about in case you have allergies, which are: tapioca starch, high oleic sunflower oil and tamari powder. The latter contains soybeans, salt and rice flour.

Nutritionally, this blend is Calories: 240 calories per one cup serving (about 30 of which are from fat), 47 grams of carbs, three grams of fat and 340mg of sodium.

Seeds of Change appears to be a high quality, responsible company. Their microwaveable organic grain products are easy to use and taste delicious, surprising in their good consistency. No more struggling to cook grains on the stove that end up mushy in spite of your best efforts! (You can, however, cook this in a skillet if you prefer.) This brown rice actually includes six other whole grains, too, and while not their most flavorful product, it lends itself to being combined with vegetables and sauces. Bought by the half case, the package is $4.50 each for a one-cup serving (not including shipping), which is rather expensive when you compare it with buying a box of brown rice...so it comes down to the convenience and the interesting combinations of grains and spices they use.

I love this rice, especially the seven whole grain with its nutty flavor. You can add it to the meal at the last minute - no need to wait for a long soak and cook time. I haven't used the microwave. It's more flavorful to heat it up on the stove with some olive oil or just cook it with/after whatever is in the pan at the time to add that flavoring. Since it's pre-cooked I add it toward the end, though it's never gotten mushy on me no longer how long it's cooked. If it's still hard or tough then it's needs to be warmed up more. It will soften. If you keep cooking with oil it gets a fried rice texture that my husband loves.

The quinoa brown rice with garlic tastes much better. I bought the seven whole grain flavor because i really like the quinoa brown rice w garlic flavor. Seeds of change makes a good product, just didn't like this particular flavor. Also, costco sells the quinoa garlic brown rice at cheaper price but only in stores, so not as convenient as home delivery.

I make rice salad with this. A little lemon juice & olive oil, minced cucumber, green onion & tomato. I love basil too so I throw in some minced basil. Any fresh herbs you like...
A great summer salad that's good for you.

This product provides me with several grains with a good flavor and just right for something fast and in my experience always a favorite with my guests. last year I was involved in a bring a dish at one of our Navy bases and I had so many requests for my recipe.
I said "SEEDS OF CHANGE" different mix's and a few olives and capers. I go threw a lot of this and other Seeds of Change combinations of rice.

This product is the best! How easy can it be to rip off the top and place in the microwave for 90 seconds and serve not, nutritious and truly delicious? I add chopped tomato and toasted pine nuts, Sometimes a little feta cheese and a chopped protein too. I can eat this in the morning and my energy is up all day until dinner. I cannot say enough about Seeds Of Change. There are no negatives!

Wow - this is really good. I prefer warming this in a skillet rather than microwaving it, but it's still good microwaved. This is perfect for 1 or 2 people and can even serve as a great base for a one-dish skillet meal: onions, mushrooms, diced chicken, and peas is a great combo. I keep a bunch of these in my pantry for quick/lazy dinners.
