Something for everybody without compromising quality and depth, a truly great album!

This is a masterful work by one of the most creative and different groups out there. I'm into weird stuff, but have little tolerance for a lack of listenability which had been their weakness in the past. These songs are NEVER going to leave my rotation of songs and can be heard again and again. There is a feeling of modern pop, but with a depth that goes far beyond almost anything out there with a pop structure musically and lyrically. The songs have a vagueness about them that doesnt dull the impact and in that respect it reminds me of Dark Side of The Moon without sounding anything like it-universal appeal without dumbing down and yet it feels personal. You can kinda hear the Pixies and punk feel in there, but there is also much other pop and some great lyrics that can fit themselves to your mood. Trouble is one of the best 'getting through a hard time' song and I'm not going to mention the other songs because there are SO many great moments in this album that you should just get the whole thing. I cant see anybody regretting this, hard core musician or casual pop fan.

The Power and the Glory

Interesting to read the diverse range of opinions about the new TV on the Radio album, but I can't say I'm surprised. Anytime a band decides to go for a more full sound (some would say slicker) there will be the inevitable backlash and cries of "sell out." But to my ears, this band is still progressing and taking chances ... and sounding better than ever. I love this sound.

Listening to these new songs I'm struck by the power and the energy, not to mention the strong melodies that abound. The band itself sounds tight and confident, clearly finding their sonic groove and locking in. For me, the brilliant "Right Now" is the highlight of the album, although I'm equally captivated by "Lazerray," a thumping rocker that sounds like a great long-lost Ramones songs. I want to shout "Gabba Gabba Hey" every time it plays!

If you've been a fan of the other TV on the Radio albums, don't miss the chance to hear this new one too. This is the sound of a talented band clicking on all cylinders.

Somebody Like You

Innovative Creative Unexpected Sound

Great album from an innovative and creative band that is now evolving into their next phase. I discovered TVOTR recently, with this album, and although I enjoy and appreciate some of their older material, the sound they present on this album is (to my ears) the most pleasing.

As with all bands, however, especially those who have been around for a while and try (as most musicians do) to evolve their sounds, there will be old fans who want the band to continue making the music they (the fan) are familiar with, and will complain when the sound "changes". Read the other reviews if you care about that-- I DO NOT. What I care about is the "album" in front of me right now, and if it's good, it's good.

This one, to my ears, IS.

The new album from TV on the Radio, "Seeds," is a significant step-up in accessibility from their previous albums, while still remaining true to form in offering unique 'indie' sounds. TVotR graft user-friendly melodies (and eliminating some of the sharply irritating falsetto of previous albums) on to their indie structures and stylings particularly on top-track, "Quartz" and "Careful You," the first two tracks of the album. Three other top tracks verge on Alt-Pop led by the driving rhythm of "Ride." "Happy Idiot," an extraordinarily infectious track, will slake the desires of Arcade Fire and Radiohead fans while "Winter" and "Lazerray" stand as Altrock tracks, dominated by distorted guitars, within this outstanding milieu.

A love hearing how an artist grows. As they develop and adapt to their world; expressing themselves with new stories. It is a shame that many of their fans cannot accept that. That they expect an artist to always have the same point of view of the world, to have the same angst. Maybe it is because they don't want to accept their journey through life, to be reminded that they are getting older and changing too. They want their artists to be their escape to a more simple time in their life. For myself, I have that with an artist's earlier works and track my journey through their work. Seeds came at the right point in my life and mirrored some of my own thoughts and feelings. I am happy that TVOTR has grown, as artists they deserve to not always sound the same.

Best Music I've Heard in a Long Time

If you are like me, you liked Dear Science and Cookie Mountain but felt that those cds were just a wee bit mellow. Seeds rocks!

I caught part of their set at Lala on the Live Stream and I was blown away. Arguably the best performance of this year's Lala, I decided to give Seeds a listen and wow! am I impressed. Please give this cd a listen. It is awesome. There are no "loser" or filler tracks on this cd, they are all great. Quartz, Happy Idiot and Winter are my favorite tracks. This cd will make you move.

I have all of TV on the Radio's recordings, am pleased to have seen them in concert, and consider myself a fan. When I first played Seeds (in streaming), it seemed surprisingly ordinary -- not a term I would generally associate with TV on the Radio. I thought it's good, but not as impressive as past efforts. Fortunately, I played it again, changed my opinion, and bought the CD. Arguably, this recording *is* more polished and smoother than earlier efforts, but that simply makes it more accessible -- and that's not a bad thing. Over time, Seeds may end up being the TV on the Radio album that I play the most often.

Not The Limited Edition Version as Listed

Great album with really cool packaging and booklet. I was sent a regular black vinyl however, despite the fact that the title of the description clearly states that it is supposed to be the limited edition color marbled vinyl.
