The Offering's first album was a revelation and a tour de force of songwriting, arranging, and performances. Inevitably, the follow-up Facing the Elephant is less impressive, but it still displays the band's prowess and emotional side.

The main difference with Home is the lyrics. They're angry and reflective of the injustice and inequality in 2022 America, which is fine. But a couple of songs have juvenile and obnoxious lyrics that are a real acquired taste, even if you agree with the spirit of the songs. If you can get past that, the songs themselves are fun and display The Offering's quirks and strengths as well as any song in their catalog.

This is a good-to-very-good record that doesn't quite rise to the heights of the band's debut, but that's to be expected. Still recommended.

Glatter Fehlkauf; da hatte ich aufgrund der Vorgängerscheibe blind zugeschlagen, und voll daneben gegriffen. Wenn ich mich anschreien lassen will, lege ich keine CD auf. Es ist nicht so, dass nur gebrüllt würde, aber dessen Anteil ist mir zu hoch, so dass der Klargesang jämmerlich zu kurz kommt.
Produktion und Sound sind zeitgemäß, für mich heißt es aber dennoch: Pech gehabt und ab in die Tonne.
