Entertaining and informative. (Time Out Chicago on Big Star)
Carefully compiled homage. (New Musical Express (UK) on Beck!)

As for this, it's adequate, nothing more. There's no new insights, the usual quotes which have been recycled dozens of times, and his grip on facts is often shaky (hey Rob - "Suzie-Q" was originally recorded by Dale Hawkins, not CCR).
This book is poorly edited. The author will tell you something and then a couple of pages later, say it again.
I got this out of the library. I'm glad I didn't spend any money on it.
