Miss Belle Heartstone—heiress and savvy businesswoman—needs a husband. Immediately. As in, yesterday would not have been soon enough. Her mother’s attempts at matchmaking have been disastrous. So Belle decides to solve the problem her way—survey the market and purchase the best groom available.
Colin Radcliffe, Marquess of Blake—debt-ridden and penniless—needs a large infusion of cash. Desperately. Preferably cash that does not come with a wife attached. It is no surprise, then, when he receives Miss Heartstone’s brazen proposal—her cash, his title, their marriage—that he politely declines.
But before he leaves her, Blake suggests something truly radical: Maybe before finding a husband, Belle should find herself.
His simple words send them both on an unexpected journey, spanning continents and years, entwining their lives in ways neither could have foreseen. Can two lonely souls move past societal expectations and forge a unique life together?
Please note: The basic storyline of Seeing Miss Heartstone was originally published as a novella titled, An Invisible Heiress, in the Spring in Hyde Park anthology. This current novel is a greatly expanded version of that plot, adding over 200 pages of text and creating a more robust, well-developed story.

About the author

Nichole Van is a writer, photographer, designer and generally disorganized crazy person. Though originally from Utah, she currently lives on the coast of Scotland with three similarly crazy children and one sane, very patient husband who puts up with all of them. In her free time, she enjoys long walks along the Scottish lochs and braes. She does not, however, enjoy haggis.
******
An international bestselling author, Nichole Van is an artist who feels life is too short to only have one obsession. In former lives, she has been a contemporary dancer, pianist, art historian, choreographer, culinary artist and English professor.
Most notably, however, Nichole is an acclaimed photographer, winning over thirty international accolades for her work, including Portrait of the Year from WPPI in 2007. (Think Oscars for wedding and portrait photographers.) Her unique photography style has been featured in many magazines, including Rangefinder and Professional Photographer. She is also the creative mind behind the popular website Flourish Emporium which provides resources for photographers.
All that said, Nichole has always been a writer at heart. With an MA in English, she taught technical writing at Brigham Young University for ten years and has written more technical manuals than she can quickly count. She decided in late 2013 to start writing fiction and has since become an Amazon #1 bestselling author. Additionally, she has won a RONE award, as well as been a Whitney Award Finalist several years running. Her late 2018 release, Seeing Miss Heartstone, won the Whitney Award for Best Historical Romance.
In February 2017, Nichole, her husband and three crazy children moved from the Rocky Mountains in the USA to Scotland. They currently live near the coast of eastern Scotland in an eighteenth century country house. Nichole loves her pastoral country views while writing and enjoys long walks through fields and along beaches. She does not, however, have a fondness for haggis.

Belle and Collins story waa beautifully drawn. Two honest hearts, lovely supporting characters, and lush setting. Told from alternating points of view, with such deep emotions and beautiful conclusion. Always a fan of NV.
Belle, a savvy businesswoman with a large inheritance, decides to propose marriage to the Marquess of Blake to avoid having her mother pick her husband. Blake politely declines but gives Belle some advice that changes her life trajectory and sends them both on an unexpected path that intertwines their lives and spans the course of years.
Oh, my friends, the romance between Colin and Belle is enough to give you some serious heart palpitations. I have so many favorite scenes - The boat ride! The letters! The library! The carriage! The lake!
Am I using too many exclamation points? I think not. Trust me, this book deserves them all.
This book gave me all the feels and the only thing I didn't like about it was that it ended.
If you have not experienced a Nichole Van book, you are truly missing out! This one will be sitting on my favorites shelf but will definitely not be gathering any dust. I cannot recommend it enough!!
Good writing, yet I have mixed feelings towards this book. It is broken into three sections. The first section I almost quit reading because it was hitting to close to home for an experience I lived. But I was intrigued by the plot and I felt it would be better to continue and get "closure" with a happy ending. But I was very close to quitting.
The book takes place over several years, which surprised me. Because of this time lapse, the main characters spend a lot of book separated from each other. They write letters, which were fun, but I like the face-to-face interactions.
The second section I really enjoyed because there were lots of cute romance scenes. The ending was happy and I liked it, but I felt like the hero didn't live up to my expectations. He gets hurt. Which makes him lose his temper (a couple of times). Although he kind of seeks forgiveness for his temper, I felt like his "I'm sorry" was weak. I felt like the heroine took too much blame for what happened. The weight of her error was too strong. So the ending was good, but lacked just that extra satisfaction. I feel like if the hero would have really sought to make it up to her for his angry temper then I would have liked it more. Overall, the story did hold my interest, but I didn't love the hero. He didn't redeem himself enough for his mistakes in the overall relationship.
Mostly Clean
Language/profanity: multiple uses of mild swear words (I wish there wasn't any)
Sex/innuendo: sweet kisses
Gore/Violence: a dangerous/intense event, but mild in description
Dark/Creepy: none
Anywho, I loved this book. There characters are great and I loved the dynamic between Belle and Colin. The internal conflict is well done, while not being melodramatic. I definitely recommend this book to fans of clean regency romance, especially if you like regency, but with a bit of a different angle than usual.
