An Excellent series! This series is listed as a Young Adult book I would advise over 16 at least as some times it had some pretty violent parts. As an adult though I found this book thoroughly enjoyable. Ms. Reece was able to write characters that were believable and age conscious. Each book can be read as a stand alone but I would advise reading them together. You will enjoy the series.
First, there is Jack Ruiz, the typical troubled past, fresh start at a new high school. He says the right things, does the right things, how did he end up in this book as a troubled soul I will not spoil it for you! His single thought on payphones had me laughing out loud when I realized how dependent we are on cell phones. As a military brat I can relate to that new student status. While Jack is basically perfect (you can send my Jack to my house please) Ally is using her feisty-ness to get into his sphere and stay there.
This series does revolve around Ally, a 17 year old who finds out she will be a powerful Seer. 17 years old, red head and you are have visions. What a combination! My favorite quote and I know everyone has thought it at least once when you were in high school
“Oh, great. I just want to graduate high school without attracting too much attention. Is that too much to ask?”
You get the picture not only do you have high school issues but hey lets throw on some additional powers you’re going to have to learn to control. I did love how Ms. Reece was able to talk about current, relevant issues that teens are facing everyday now while also throwing adventure, mystery and romance at you. Giving them the ability to enter and walk in another’s shoes to see how they face those same issues that teens face today.

Seeker hooked me and kept me interested from the first page to the last! The characters are very well written and I was quickly drawn into Ally's world and wanted as badly as she to know what the heck was going on, not only with the mystery around her "friend", but also with her emerging psychic abilities. The blossoming relationship between Ally and Jack is a sweet, intense, and realistic trip down the memory lane of first love. Seeker is written in first person, through Ally's lens, and through this point of view, Reece leads the reader deftly through the story. I often found myself laughing out loud, I cried once, and I was on the edge of my seat when the mystery reached it's climax. One of my favorite things about Seeker is the way Reece portrays the teenagers. I believe teens are much more intelligent and more contemplative than we give them credit for these days. Teens are capable of big emotions, big egos, and big mistakes, true. But they are also capable of deep thoughts, wide imaginings, and a drive to make this world a better place. Reece expertly gives Ally an authentic voice and a wide range of emotion and action. This is an amazing book in every way and I can't wait until book 2 comes out!

What a great, entertaining read! This is a wonderful start to what promises to be an intriguing series. I found myself pleasantly surprised; I'm not normally a huge fan of first person writing, and I often get distracted (and sometimes even annoyed) when the character "talks to the audience". Boy...NOT in this case. The first person writing didn't leave me feeling "deprived" of the motivation of other characters, and the tone was JUST RIGHT. I actually enjoyed when our main character, Ally, spoke directly to us; I often even laughed out loud. It acted as a reminder of the character's young age. Sometimes teenaged characters can come off acting and sounding like seasoned adults...who just happen to still be in high school. I got the total sense that Ally was very much a blossoming teen - from the rash decisions to the boy-crazed distraction. As a mother of teens, I appreciated the fact that Ms. Reece allowed her characters to make good, responsible choices, while "keeping it real". Teens are no angels, whether they make wise choices or not, so it was refreshing to see that a relatively "clean read" could include the conflict within the characters that allowed it to be such, along with the reality that characters around them were not always making such wise choices. I get annoyed when teen characters are portrayed as virginal saints who's lips have never uttered a 4-letter word and responsible intellectuals who have never had an R-rated thought sully their pretty little minds. Pul-eeze! Anyway, not to rush off, but I immediately downloaded the next in the series, so...please excuse me while I go ignore my dishes and laundry so I can read on!

Seeker is a wonderful book with the kind of teenage characters you love to root for. Ally is a good person, and Jack is the bad boy with a bad boy past, that embarrasses him. Ally gives him the confidence he needs and Jack brings her out of her shell. Together, they are the perfect couple and good for each other.

Ally has supernatural abilities that came from the female side of her family, but hers are more intense than anything the family has experienced in centuries. Her grandmother is a quirky character, much younger at heart than her years, and her mother is the mother every teen wants to have. Each parental figure has their own unique gift as well.

Jack's extended family rallies around him to help him cope with the bad things he's done. He first changes his attitude for the sake of his little sister. He wants to be a better role model for her.

In this story Ally has visions of someone being harmed and goes to great lengths to find a way to help even though at first she doesn’t even like this person very much.

I loved this story. The writing and characterization is well-done and the story moved along at a nice pace. It’s a page-turner you'll not want to put down until you’ve read the last word. There’s mystery, paranormal abilities, and a great romance brewing. What more could you want? I will read more from this author for sure.
