Dr. Paul Dunion describes people who are at this liminal place; where the old no longer serves, but the new is frightening and unknown, as “seekers”, and this book is written for them. These “seekers” are “threshold dwellers”, and many are called to the threshold repeatedly during various cycles in their lives by curiosity, and drive about life’s rich potentials. This call ultimately need only be a move toward a deeper relationship to being “home” with one’s self, and Dunion does a beautiful job addressing this. Realizing that so many of us live in “stories” that may be outdated “deals”, he looks at the concept of “home” in very fresh and interesting, yet ancient and timeless ways, always with an eye toward embracing our own uniqueness.
For me, this text is like having a having a wise elder-guide along during a threshold experience. Like a midwife during a labor, another person, or a book, cannot eliminate the pain, or help us avoid what we must each individually experience in order to birth something new. But with this work, we can gain deeper understanding of the process, and get as much from the experience as we are ready for at any given time.
and meaningfully resonates within the heart of even the most hardened doubter.
He effectively advocates and makes a strong case for living a life that embraces the sacred ordinary, seeks wisdom, and abandons the ego in favor of acknowledging and accepting our limitations, thus mastering the skills needed to become more emotionally visible, more mindfully accessible, and infinitely more compassionate to ourselves and to others.
Seekers compels the reader to consciously consider Dr. Dunion"s call to action by inviting us to contemplate new insights, and beliefs regarding our old ways of thinking and doing. Dr. Dunion explains that in doing so, we will find our way home to a place that renews and feeds our soul. Home is a place where we are welcomed and encouraged to express who we really are. It is a place where we will want to linger because it is here, that our spirit feels truly free. It is here where we are comforted by knowing what really matters.
