Sarah shares with her readers some interesting background for this book series. ‘The truth behind Exiled Dragons Series is that I thought about it way back in 2011. I had just finished watching the season finale of Game of Thrones where Daenerys rose from the fire with three baby dragons and was completely blown away by how beautiful the creatures were. I was so inspired by that scene that I decided if I ever wrote in the future, I would feature Dragons somehow. Years later in 2016, when I finally mustered up the courage to write something I would publish, I thought back to that scene...and the rest is history!’ Anecdotes like that endear an author to us.
This story is the sixth episode in the series opens in Kandahar – ‘Khalil sat at the edge of the meadow, watching, waiting. The men were nearby; they had spears and stalked the night for their prey. It didn’t matter to them that he was not an ordinary tiger. They knew that if they caught him in tiger form, he would die in tiger form. His pelt would sell just like those they got from his non-shifter brothers, only it was bigger, worth more. “We know you are out there,” one of them shouted, but Khalil made no sound. He waited, as still as the night around him. “Come on, Arrhan. We have enough pelts for today. We don’t need this one,” another man told him. “I’m not leaving until we have them all. We won’t be back here for some time,” the man he called Arrhan replied. “I’m cold, and I’m hungry. Just let it go. It’s probably long gone by now anyway.” “No, it’s not gone. Be quiet!” The men continued across the meadow. He could smell them and heard the way their feet crunched against the dry field beneath them. It was cold, too cold to return to his human form. He’d freeze out here in short order in his naked human form. They disappeared into the darkness, and he breathed a sigh of relief as he walked toward the castle that stood high on the side of a nearby hill, careful not to make a sound. Sitting in the darkness, he looked upon it, forgetting all about the men that had been following him only moments ago. He waited for her. She would come out soon. It was time. It had been a hard day for him, his entire clan wiped out by a pack of poachers that wanted fur for their frocks. They had come here to protect themselves, thinking Ireland would be safer than his home in India, but they were wrong. Now, he was alone. Alone, except for her.’ One of Sarah’s best Prologues continues until we are once again in Ireland.
And so the adventure begins and is well-distilled In Sarah’s summary: ‘Tio leads a quiet life with his father on the southern tip of Ireland. Though he knows from an early age that there are secrets he cannot share, his sheltered life affords him a degree of anonymity which suits him. Then, everything changes when his father reveals a dying wish for him to seek out a mother he has never met. His journey will take him far from home, a long distance from the life he has always known, but the pretty young daughter of his employer could very well be the beginning of a life renewed if his secrets don’t tear them apart.
Sarah’s way with writing is at once relaxed in style but sensitive to tension that seems to be always around the bend. The story is a fast read and there is plenty of steaming erotica to please the reader as well as the characters. Another solid book from Sarah J Stone. Grady Harp, April17
Seeking The Dragon, is tragically beautiful. This is the sweetest, saddest love story I've read. It's a love story that transverses generations.
Unanswered questions, will finally be answered.
Note: this is not your normal love story, this is so very much more!!!
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Read and enjoy.
Here is a look back at Cassie's life through her son, Advik's, eyes. After his fathers death Tio, as he is now called, takes off to find his "Dragon Mother". What he finds is more than he could ever imagined. He finds his one true love, has his own son, all through this he has a relationship with his mother, never telling her the truth about him being her son...
This book had me in tears... I could feel how much Tio loved his mother... You can feel how much it hurt him not being able to tell her who he was... You can feel how much it hurt Cassi, even after all the years, leaving her true love and her son. To read a book with this much going on in it, you would think that it was over 200 pages... Nope it's a short read... It has everything it needs.... And it does it with love and romance... I recommend you read books 1-5 before this book... The series is a great read you will not be disappointed...
I actually started reading this series backwards so I was glad it can be read as a standalone although, I would recommend reading it in order.
After the loss of his father, Tio embarks on a journey to find his mother who is a dragon. When he comes upon her in a bar, he decides to not tell her the truth. Instead, he asks if she knows where he can get work. He meets a man who offers him a job working in his field. During this time he meets the owner’s daughter, Maggie, and falls for her. She reciprocates his feelings but Tio is harboring a big secret. Can Tio tell her what he truly is? How will she react? Can they have the loving relationship they both want more than anything or will Tio’s secret ensure their separation? I loved Tio’s story full of happiness and sorrow and overcoming fear to have something much more precious. I am looking forward to what Ms. Stone has in store next.
I volunteered to read an arc for review.
