Joel is the local Sheriff. He is one of several brothers that own a nice ranch of their own. Each brother has another job leaving the running of the ranch up to the youngest. They are all big, gorgeous, sexy cowboys. Joel has to deliver Phoebe's brother to the family after picking him up for underage drinking. It seems this Tyler is always in trouble or looking for it. This is the first time he has met Phoebe and he is instantly attracted to her. He is a very compassionate man and he tries to help the family get beyond being treated as second class citizens.
Phoebe is not an easy woman to woo!! She is inexperienced and the Sheriff has decided to take it very slow so as to not scare her away from him. Their family has not had pleasant dealings with the law and they are not very trusting of the Sheriff. This story has it all. Romance, mystery, adventure, bad guys, good guys, drugs, fights, and shootings. Something for everyone. I thought it was a very entertaining read and I enjoyed it. I would definitely recommend it.
I was not paid for this review. I am not a writer nor do I know one. I am not kin to this author. I am a reader and this is my opinion, nothing more, nothing less. 6/5/18
With impending bad weather, Sheriff Joel Masterson has plenty of tasks to carry out, and a drunken teenager is taking him away from necessary duties. When the boy is taken home, his actions lead to a sister named Phoebe being injured and thus even more problems for the officer to handle. Joel already knew that individuals with the last name Tyler caused much trouble in his county, but interacting with the oldest sister in this particular family is not what he expected. In fact, he would like the chance to see her again.
A wide variety of emotions can be found in SEEKING THE SHERIFF, and I was drawn into the lives of its many interesting characters. There are some candid comments by the Tyler women toward the Masterson men, and I really enjoyed all the quick comebacks. When an incident dealt with either Joel or Phoebe’s family, I repeatedly observed heartfelt realistic moments, while any instances concerning the relationship of this couple was also sincerely genuine. Calle J. Brookes has created a clean romance with fascinating people and intriguing circumstances.
This could be so much more. It would be amazing, if in the future, Brookes extends the book and gives it the chance to live up to its potential.
