I started reading it at 11PM. The first few pages didn't draw me in but I'm not one to stop mid-chapter. Well, around page 5 I was hooked. I was completely intrigued and ended up finishing the book in one sitting! Yes, I stayed up way too late on a school night reading until 2am!
It's a quick read, written in a style that is almost conversational in tone. The descriptions are such that I vividly saw each character in my mind's eye, as well as the settings. When they were upset, I was upset. When they were scared, I was scared.
It was like watching a GREAT movie.
I still haven't decided if I will let my son read it because at the end of the book, I got a "heebie jeebie" feeling about the villain. That being said, I can't wait for the next book in the Older series to come out so that I can read it!
This was truly a treasure to read, and completely worth the lack of sleep :)
