PRAISE FROM THE PRESS

ChuChu Rocket! was a total blast when I had a chance to play it today, and it makes me sad that I never tried out this title almost a decade ago. – touchArcade.com

Gathering up four friends for a manic game of Chu Chu Rocket is a cherished gaming memory. The version of Chu Chu Rocket I was able to play today at SEGA's offices pretty much matched up with those memories – IGN.com

Brilliantly updated for mobile devices! It was a unique puzzle experience when it debuted, and has definitely held up with this port to android, especially with the cleaned up graphics and intuitive mechanics! Once you get used to how tile placement works, it's fast easy and fun!

Bottom line: whether you've played it before or not, this is a must-play game that is well worth the price, no matter your age!

It's one of my favorite Sega franchises that I feel never got it's due. This port is for all purposes exactly the same as the Dreamcast version, except for multiplayer and some control issues.

The multiplayer loss is expected, since it is on a mobile platform. But you can still play against A.I. opponents. But the control issues are a real pain. It's fine playing the puzzle mode, since you don't have to react in real time. But in the vs modes, the games method of planting arrows is not conductive to being a fast method of operation. I would have liked it better if one hand controlled the arrows, and one had controlled placement. But instead it uses some weird slide mechanic that I don't feel like it works too well. And as such, the multiplayer I barely feel like I'm in control of my own actions.

So basically, my recommendation of this title lies solely on the puzzle mode. Which is still a lot of fun. Just don't buy this game expecting to replicate the vs mode from the original titles.

Game Play:
I love this puzzle game because of the challenge it gives you to figure out the maze and save the mice. Your job is to lay down arrows to guide the mice safely to the rockets and avoid the hungry cats and the holes in the maze. The game is challenging and you will have to play some levels multiple times to achieve escape.

Main Screen:
* Tutorial
* Puzzle - solve the mazes
* Challenge - accomplish a goal in a certain amount of time, think fast!
* Battle - play against up to 4 players (AI computer players) and compete for the high score. You can adjust the skill levels of the computer players to weak, hates cats, loves mice, tough, random or turn that computer opponent off.
* Help & options - how to play, sounds, language, costumes, and credits.

What I like:
This is an interesting and fun puzzle game. The graphics are good and it moves fast. It is a real mind teaser and you will finally reach a level that you cannot master. (At least I did) It plays well on my Kindle Fire without any issues. The sounds and FX are well done and converting the game to a touch screen the controls and concept was re-mastered perfectly.

Game play is smooth and I experienced no issues at all during the games. With more than 500 levels this game is a lot of fun and you can play multiple levels and games. You can even challenge your computer to battle mode and play against 3 AI opponents or play with an AI on your team against another team of AIs.

The variation and different modes in which you can play this game is amazing and that is what keeps this game challenging and fun. There are no permissions to worry about in this game.

So ikaruga was a good game... but chu chu rocket was the best game released on the sega dreamcast. It's awesome that the port was made to mobile. I believe chu chu rocket was the first console game in north America to have PvP over a network. It is the grand-daddy of console multiplayer.

Loaded onto a Kindle Fire(not HD). The main graphic on the description page looks pretty lame. The name of the game reinforces a negative image. One reviewer was clearly unimpressed by the game's graphic quality. I expected this freebie would be quickly removed from device. Instead, it's 1:00am, and the current level stumps my waning focus.

PROS: Clean graphics, easy to understand, easy to play, definitely challenging

CONS: The object of the game is to direct mice through a maze, to a spaceship, while avoiding cats. The characters move pretty fast and some solutions require precise, complex interleaving and timing. As such, the TATA* solution method creeps in.

The gameplay was, in my experience, very unique. Even the guesses require sound logic to quickly find a solution. I felt an odd satisfaction when solving a level, quite unlike other games/puzzles. I think this may come from the order you get to force upon chaos.

I really wish i had known of ChuChu Rocket! back when it was on the Dreamcast because if I had, I would've had two copies sitting beside the now deceased Dreamcast in my room. Inspired to purchase this cutesy game from a YouTube video, I fell quickly in love and into addiction in trying to get the small mice into their space ships. I even put it on my Granny's Kindle. Easily my favorite puzzle game of all time!
